Brett Phillips .250/.361/.413 sort of meh since the trade

Josh Hader 2.70 era, 12.2k/9 on fire since the trade

Hader is very likely going to be a relief pitcher because of his effort and delivery.

Phillips was made available by the Astros because there are real concerns that he won't hit for power and that he is not good at stealing bases.

Many people have spent a lot of time, for good reason, tracking one of Rule 5 draft picks over the past offseason. I thought to look to see how another of those picks was doing since returning from suspension with the Mariners.

    David Rollins, 14G, 8.84 ERA, 19.1 IP, 33 H, 19 ER, 7 BB, 18 SO, .379 AVG, 2.07 WHIP

It is highly unlikely he would have survived a whole season on the Mariners roster with those numbers. The suspension appears to have allowed the Mariners to retain him without having to make that decision.

Yes....it seems that is a loophole in the rule.

The suspension penalized the Astros. There should be a rule that suspended players are not eligible in the rule 5 draft.

The suspension occurred after the actual draft.

Domingo Santana is really hitting great for the Brewers.
    .271 average, .358 OBP, .578 slugging, OPS .936

It was always surprising how Domngo Santana de not fit the Astros Mold of an OF.

I always figured he was going to be a real good borderline all star calibur player.

Be good enough to be a household name for a few years, with maybe one or two allstar appearances.

I like what i saw from him this year with the Astros, the defense not as much, thought was better defensively, but offensively did good with us in few games.

Not happy to see him go, but, we got good players in return

His K-rate was awful here. For whatever reason he has cut it way down in his short time with the Brewers.

He will K a lot, but i think the reason is lack of playing time. If he plays once a week, is difficult to get into a groove.

Good to see Santana doing well. He's only 22 so he just needed regular playing time in a low pressure situation and Milwaukee is a good spot for him.

I'm sure its been mentioned already, but Brett Wallace has really turned it around lately.

    Granted, he's only had 70 ABs, but he's hitting .349/.414/.603, with 4HR/4doubles/11R/and 19k:7bb...

Glad to see him turn things around, I always had high hopes for him.

Guess an Ivy League education didn't automatically make him a successful manager. Go figure.

I don't watch nearly enough Tigers baseball to corroborate, but I'm good friends with a couple friends who are die-hards and they absolutely hated him. Did they have a lot of injuries this year. Seems pretty inexcusable for a team with that talent to be 12 games under .500.

He won a division title in his first season and has had to deal with numerous injuries and the trades of 3 pretty good players in July during his second season.

Verlander, Cabrera and Martinez all missed a lot of time. They traded Cespedes and Price and their closer at the deadline.
