Forget Thornton, is DMo in JB's doghouse? If so, why?

Sorry kiddo, the reality is that Jones really is awful defensively. I'm sorry that I had to be the one to break the news to you. He'll sometimes catch a block with help defense every now and again, but I don't think there is a PF in the league that he could guard one on one. If you were thinking, you wouldn't think there was either.

You can live with that if that's your biggest weakness and you are pretty good at about almost every single other aspect of the game.

On the topic: I think D-Mo yet doesn't have feet and quickness at the D. He can't handle his opponents as he could before injury. He is not ready do go 100% defensively. That's the only reason why D-MO's minutes are limited, IMO.

He also has zero explosiveness. He has to rely on lateral movement and his height because he isn't out leaping anyone

This was sort of Yaos issue. Short arms and no explosiveness meant he wasn't going just block and board everything, but DMo is much worse.

He's worse than Bargnani rebounding this year. I think he'll turn it around and at least be as good as last year (which wasn't good either as far as rebounding is concerned).

At least his touch around the rim and footwork still looks fantastic.

But if our offense is going to be Harden holding the ball and hoisting a contested 3 (or passing it to a guarded teammate to hoist a contested 3) then we just need a guy to grab the bricks and play defense.

Pop won't play players who don't defend or rebound well. It''ll prolly be worse in San Antonio

Don't expect much from that one. He's probably doing the best he can.

Pop wants his own Scola - he was hammered big time by fans over letting Scola go.

Prove it. That's a pretty big claim, so let's see your metrics.

Are you serious? You are running to metrics as proof, anyone that understands the game in any capacity can see that Jones is not a consistently good defender.

The guy is constantly back cut, is slow to rotate to cover for his team, and struggles against the better PFs in the league.

If you need metrics to see the truth, then you aren't watching the games.

    Late in responding... but,

My eye test was that DMO was still rusty. At the same time, Jones has played better since he was removed from starting. But the bigger factor is that Capela is playing much better defensively than any of the PF, SF, SG, PG. The Rockets have been dismal on the defensive end and they are rightly so to prioritize D over O at this stage.

Bobby made the claim of "awful defender" and "He'll sometimes catch a block with help defense every now and again, but I don't think there is a PF in the league that he could guard one on one."

I want metrics to quantify that claim. Please keep up.

This... People getting butt hurt over the players they invest too much into. DMO will be fine...
