Forget Mario or perhaps even Foster, should the Texans just load up on receivers?

I think the Texans need to prioritize improving the wide receiving corps in the off season, much like they set about to fix the running game two years ago and the defense last year.

    Load up on TE's.

Look at New England with The Gronk and Aaron Hernandez.

Foster does too many things well,...I want Mario, but I'd rather have a Blackmon in the draft if a trade could be had for him.

Best case is keep em all but unlikely.

Lol, you want to abandon run game for passing game. Jacoby should be cut next season, move Walters to 3rd slot, and get a solid number 2 from the draft. I wish we would have kept David Anderson this season, at least he can catch the ball and run routes.

OD is not as important as AJ, not even close.

As much as I like the idea, I think Mario and Foster are way too important to this team. We should pick up a receiver or two in this next draft and maybe cut Jacoby. He is a 3rd or 4th receiver at best. And off topic, but ever since Daniels has come back from the knee injury, he doesn't look as fast as he was before.

The texans are loaded with TE's:

    - Owen Daniels
    - Joel Dreessen
    - James Casey
    - Garrett Graham

hoping isnt going to get the Texans anywhere. Dre is in the twilight of his career and most likely will be injured in one way or another..Jacoby Jones needs to be cut..how does he only have 28 catches this season with Andre out most of the year..Jacoby is trash.. i say draft a WR in the first round and get a veteran like Reggie Wayne who just burned us last game..

While there's no replacing a QB due to the nature of the NFL, you have to somewhat prepare for lack of AJ. Also, top-5 offense is not transcendent offense. One that just drives down the field and scores. The Texans don't have that offense. Even at our best we settle for a lot of field goals. AJ has never been a red-zone beast. We get shut down by top defenses. Heck, when Schaub was around we get shut down by the 2nd half.

There's something about the NFL policy that's just so conducive to the passing game. You have to gear towards it. When there's a hard cap and you can't upgrade everywhere, you have to gear your resources in an unbalanced manner. I simply suggest we tilt our way towards a superior passing game.

    Resign both and draft WR.

Simple, our team is good enough to win the superbowl if healthy.

Get the Frachise tag on him and trade him to a team in the middle of the draft for a 1st and 2nd round pick.

I love Kevin Walter, but honestly he's almost as expendable as Jacoby. Sure hands is one thing but he only gets one target a game. Backside blocking isn't a good enough reason to start a WR let alone keep him. I imagine that it's a very teachable skill as long as the player's willing.

It's just annoying to see teams find all these late-round gems in wideouts while the Texans took Jacoby in the third and have settled with him for 4 years straight. Maybe L.Jean if he didn't get hurt, but why even try to make someone like Holliday a receiver when he wasn't worth keeping as a returner.

Its not even a "sexy" thing anymore, its more obvious it takes legit playmaking receivers in this league now to win. Kevin Walter is a good guy, but he is NOT THAT guy.

Hines Ward and Donald Driver are like the #4 receivers on their teams now. Both of them can probably produce as well as Walter if they were in the Texans offense.

Its NOT like some of these are investing HIGH draft picks on WRs eithers. Guys like Antonio Brown and Pierre Garcon are mid to LOW round picks. Its just that they even ATTEMPTED to address the position that they're getting decent players out of it. Jacoby represented the Texans last symbolic attempt to get a decent pass catcher.

Its almost an indictment on the Texans WR talent that UNDRAFTED Lester Jean, Jeff Maehl and 7th round Dorin Dickerson are PROSPECTS.

2 years in a row and 3 of the last 5 where Andre has missed multiple games. You need to overhaul the entire roster of WR(s) outside of him. So yes you need to draft 1-2 and sign a big name guy in the offseason.

My hope is for Vincent Jackson.

Foster is going to get paid in the next four years as if he had been playing the last two years for free. Which by NFL salary comparisons, he has been.

Anyone can suffer a career ending injury in the NFL at any time, but the dude's running style in my mind is about as safe as it can get. He makes people miss like I've not seen in a long time, and if any RB is going to have a long and productive career in the NFL it's Foster. He also does his homework off the field. He's not a knucklehead like CJ; he keeps himself in tiptop shape while keeping a clean nose too.

Honestly as far as NFL investments go he's the most secure you can get at a high skill position. And if he really is able to stay healthy for that long, then you've got on your hands another Marshall Faulk. Another Marcus Allen. Another Emmitt Smith. Do you really want to be a fan of the franchise that lets that kind of player walk?

Pay the man the next four years and count it as a six year deal for the two years of service he's already given us.

We should do both, draft a receiver, but also sign/trade for a veteran.

It seems Reggie Wayne could leave Indy, and it would be nice if the Texans signed him, but its going to cost a lot of money, so I dont know.

I doubt Wayne gets crazy money. There's an overabundance of receivers in FA and Wayne is getting old. But he fits quite perfectly as someone with great hands and instant need for success. Plus the Texans can also trade like a 2nd-3rd round pick for someone. There's a WR out there every year that gets traded for peanuts due to his contract ending.

As mentioned by someone else earlier, we can probably sign 2 solid receivers with Mario's cap money alone. The Texans are in a win-now mode. If our cap gets screwed 2-3 years later, so be it. But we have to go nuts in FA before our youngsters start making crazy money(Watt, Cushing, Barwain, Brown, etc.)
