Seriously, I believe the Raps would do it in a NewYorkMinute. However, with TJ's contract and health situation + Rox Lux Cap issues it would be a heckuva roll of the dice. It could hamstring (sic) the Rox for the length of the Yao/TMac 'window'. To even consider it Rox would have to have a good and 'safe' landing spot for Rafer, including cap relief back.
And - Griz have two Points, no Pau (the 'recruiter' for his close pal JCN)...are wanting D (Hayes?). It would seem workable. At least to my eyes.
We need a very healthy PG .. JCN is a good player. TJ is good but I am not sure how he is after that horrifying injury he got from Al horford. I read the doctor is advising him end his career if he had another similar injury.
See this is why I would take the risk on TJ.....if he does get injured again and has to retire, we would get the cap relief from his contract, so to me, why not take that risk? DD
OK, so BobbyJax for TJ. Now you HAVE to get rid of RA. Where do you realistically move him, and for what?
I don't think you have to move him, you could move him or Brooks.....Rafer could be the backup PG, or you could simply use him as the 3rd PG as insurance. DD
That' s a very risky one. Imagine we are in the playoffs next season and .. TJ Ford is fouled hard, we'll be in trouble. We need a pg that can stand up and continue to play after a hard foul and become a undermanned team. We cannot afford to have a PG that is one foul from retiring.
Why not? We have a SG that is one fall on his butt from retiring and a Center who is one getting stepped on from being out again. The point is that you can not plan around injuries, some players that are durable all of the sudden become injury prone, just as players that have a history of injuries suddenly get healthy....Grant Hill, Ilgelskas...etc.. DD
I wanted the Rockets to contend next season. I hope if the management wanted to get players, get those tough, die hard, gritty ones and fight till the end. I know injury is part of the game but some guys just don't break down easy while some do. We need to tough guys to win the ring.
But you never know who those tough guys are, they vary from year to year..... Grant Hill was injured for a long time, now he is relatively healthy. Agent Zero was healthy now he got injured. You just can not tell. Tmac was relatively healthy this year, and Yao could be beyond his issues. I think you roll the dice hope Tmac and Yao stay healthy, limit their minutes and take your chances. DD
Keeping RA would create the same problem Raps have: two starting 1s and just one ball. Rafe has played 1,000s of minutes (he said with rare hyperbole) as a starter at the Toy Shop and would be in an untenable position as a 10-15/mpg back-up. It is 100% unrealistic. 100%. OK, 99.99998% unrealistic.
thats some expensive insurance... I think TJ Ford is a huge upgrade. I know you like Vspan but he's a question mark. He's still way better than Beno, though. Do people really think that the spurs just let a starting caliber PG go for nothing? This seriously feels like Bobby Simmons all over again. He ain't that good. A guy has a decent year when he isn't asked to do much and people wanna look at him like a future all-star or something. The kings will overpay, he will be given more duties in the offense, and he will fail. STOP STAT WATCHING AND WATCH THE GAME.
The Spurs let Barbosa go, they let Scola go...... Sometimes I think players just don't fit under a certain coach or system. DD
Fallacy in your statement. Barbosa and Scola never played for the Spurs. Spurs were going to lose Scola Tao Ceramica and had to get something for him, which was us taking Jackie Butler's contract and giving Vspan's rights. Pops NEVER wanted to lose Scola's rights, he was forced to. Spurs were coming off winning a championship and didn't want to add rookies to the roster, Parker and Manu were coming on their own. Suns wanted Barbosa, Spurs gave them him. Udrih on the other hand, played for the Spurs for th 3 years, and Pops never fully trusted him, bringing in vets like Van Exel and Jacque Vaughn to back up Parker. System incompatibility? More like flaws in Udrih's game were too much for Pops. Pops doesn't make too many scouting errors.
Some players fit better in other systems under different coaches and systems. And the Spurs have given up some talent. Heck all the way back to Mad Max which we got for 50k. The NBA is littered with players that failed early or under one coach and succeeded later under another coach or system. Pops is a great talent evaluator but even he makes mistakes. Do you think today he would have kept Scola or Oberto? Do you think he would have kept Vaughn or Barbossa? DD PS. Glad to see you are actually discussing things instead of name calling, it is a refreshing change for you.
To Sactown with Battier for Artest. Yoa Scola Artest TMac Ford / Brooks How about this small lineup for a motion offense?\ Scola Artest TMac Ford Brooks Just run Ford and Brooks in constant motion like Rip Hamilton and the other teams guards will pass out. SMILE!
