I know. I didn't want to come on as a show off... BTW, the Lincoln platform was called the Dew-98... but I might be wrong...
and that the 4v cobra's engine was first used in the 93 Lincoln Mark VIII, which I own, and love telling cobra owners about their Lincoln motors (ya ya forged crank different intake... same motor)
Like I said before, most of the Mustangs parts of the past have been pulled out of other cars' parts bins. No biggie. As a matter of fact, the engine in the SC GT500 shares most parts with the GT...not the Mustang GT...the GT Supercar.
Do you think we'll eventually see 2 versions of the Cobra? one with an IRS and one with the solid rear? I think they'll probably put the hi-po engine in two diff cars but change some other details and bring back the bullitt name
Actually, you are right. Temporary brain lapse. So, I know I don't like the regular '05 Mustang and I suspect it would be the same for the GT. Oh yeah, it was Hertz. I have a guy on the inside who can get me better cars.
While I think the new Mustangs are butt ugly, just like the last change in '94, that Cobra looks sweet, minus that hideous steering wheel. My favorite is still the '67-68 body style.
Many 1/4 milers want the solid rear because wheel hop is murder on the IRS, but I think they'll leave the IRS as standard on the Cobra...simply because many GT owners would like to trade their Solid rear for the Cobra IRS. Besides, the IRS can be managed with some performance bushings and a few other suspension mods. The Bullitt was nothing to brag about. A bilet gas cap, limited edition colors, rear wing removal, a different intake, and a limited edition number makes most Bullitt owners I act like the second coming. There was not actual "Bullitt" car until 2001. Damn car was named after a movie. It was just a dressed up GT... Now the Mach line...that was something to brag about and worth keeping going!!! Just my humble opinion...what do I know?
The V6 Mustangs are actually quite fast 215 hp and 240 lb-ft almost the same as the old 5.0 ~ 0-60 in the low 7s or high 6s I would guess.
I got my GT brand new in '92. I also test drove the 6'er as soon as it hit the Ford showroom in Brownsville. The feel is not the same at all IIRC. Not dogging the sixer...It's just a different ride.
My dad has a red 91 GT that looks exactly like yours FT (without custom rims) ~ i'm not sure if it even has 50,000 miles on it yet (beyond mint condition). We've had a lot of fun in that thing - and no you can't really compare any V6 to the 5.0
so i take it nobody from this board is going to Hot Import Nights April 9th at Reliant Park? I'm more into the eye candy now adays. I was never down with the Vanilla Ice Mustang. The newer ones, i'm not to fond of the back of them. I like the front of them. I am more of a Truck guy also.

My father bought a 1966 427 Cobra for $6000 new, then we drove it to California when I was 5 in 1969, the bottom of our shoes melted...he sold it for about $8,000 later on, and now that car is worth over $1,000,000....I tease him about it every chance I get but man I wish he still had it. 0-60 in 4.1 or less....what a car........ DD
97 Cobra's were not running IRS IIRC. The handling on them was not what it is now. Depreciation on a performance car can be pretty bad. Gotta take into account that the owner is gonna buy it and thrash it. I'm sure you did.
