Forcing children to wear a mask is child abuse. The Left failed children.

Majority of locales did not have a mandate and many states have gone so far to outright ban them. Majority of locales did not even wear masks voluntarily and most acted as if there was no pandemic because to them there was not one. It is very much an urban vs rural, rich vs poor, and white vs blue collar.

 

Also there's been a lot of talk of European countries here but Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan have all done far far better than the US and even most European countries. Singapore of those three is now the most open and per population has suffered the most COVID but those numbers don't compare with what we see in the US and are even half of what European countries like the Netherlands have. Masking when ill was already a part of those cultures prior to COVID and during the pandemic has been heavily enforced. At the same time things like contact tracing has been much heavily used and also universal and high quality health care.

 

A German really shouldn't be comparing quarantining to interment camps and re-posting that "Force-masking of children will go down in history as one of the most cruel and inhumane things we've ever done."

 

I think there is plenty of evidence that young children don't need to be masked. I think there is plenty of evidence that we are coming to the end, at least of the Delta / Omicron waves, and that we can relax measures including masking.

I don't think that means that masking didn't work and especially that masking made things worse.

Right! The far right is more worried about masks than guns. Do they realize their kids are far more likely to die with a gun in the house than without? Do they care that the US has had more mass shootings per Capita than any civilized country, and that the more guns that are out there the more chance of them being stolen? SMH at the outrage about masks and the outrage over stricter gun laws. It's mind baffling to say the least.

Most children can wear masks with just a little inconvenience. That's especially true for the very infrequent airplane rides. A child isn't flying daily. At most they do it a couple of times a year except in rare instances.

This is the last thing we should be devoting time and energy to worrying about.

By the same token, I have no issues raising the mask age to 5, until their first sneez or cough. Then mask them up for the rest of the flight.

 

Well what. I was talking about parents who didn't believe Covid was dangerous and who were against masks and vaccines dying of Covid. I didn't put the cause of infection as coming from their kids. They could have got it anywhere. A Trump rally, a bar, or any other crowded place surrounded by people not wearing masks.

 

I haven't looked at data from German or Switzerland. In the US and Canada, School closure didn't make a difference.

 

And asian vs non-asian. Go to Fort Bend / SW Hou (the new china town) and you'll see almost everyone still masking indoor. Elsewhere in HOU, maybe 20-25% mask.

 

You can’t really contract trace in a big country like America . Say you went to the Rams and 49ers game and weren’t wearing a mask and got omnicron

Ideally you'd quarantine to prevent viruses from spreading.

I guess if these camps start gassing Jews and melanin enhanced people while blaming it on the covid, then I'd start to worry about dem slippery ass slopes.

We're in a situation where the genie's out of the bottle and we're trying to push that blue b*stard back in while dragging half of America along, kicking and screaming.

Australia has had less than 4k total deaths from covid. That's like a good weekend for us.

Sometimes I wonder where the line is drawn between overreacting from First World problems and being a First World problem...
