It's true I don't. But it's not like I don't have family members with kids. Kids generally are annoyed at most things, hats, helmets, winter coat, Gloves, I don't see why masks are that different.

I will admit in your example having a 2 year old wear a mask might be very difficult, I think it should be kids above 5 maybe.

Again i come from Asian culture masks are worn on a regular basis if you are sick or there are around you who are sick, it's just about cleaniness and I don't see the big fuss about it.

During Omicron surge is when it makes more sense to mask. Masking during little viral spread has very little return.

I personally do it as an adult, it's annoying but I don't kick up a fuss about it (I know people who are much more bothered by them). But honestly, for small children, it's torture.

No, because everyone should get Omicron. It really is no more dangerous than the flu (certainly not for children) and will give you better immunity than the vaccines.

kind of just waiting it out, the mask thing has to end soon. I went in for an outpatient medical procedure last week that required anesthesia and the whole nine yards, and they let me wear my ratty old surgical mask from the moment I walked in the front door, through the procedure, and up until they wheeled me out to my wife waiting in the car to drive me home. If a ratty old surgical mask is good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

Yes. I still find it problematic for older children, but under 5, it's just ridiculous to try and force it on them.

Except the one that doesn't want to get it.

Covid has killed 900-1200 US kids. The flu kills maybe 2-3 kids in the past year in the US and about 100 kids per year on avg. And then there is this unknown thing about long covid. Covid is thus so far ~4x more deadly than the flu (and this is with restriction vs no restriction during typical flu season time). So, no, it's not just like the flu.

The study on immunity from vaccine vs natural infection isn't conclusive.

This I agree with. I don't think it's ridiculous, but under 5 is very tough for many kids. BTW, covid is slightly deadlier for 0-5 than for 6-18.

Funny that's the only one of the examples I mentioned you chose to throw someone else's opinion on.

The risk of dying from Covid as a child is smaller than being struck by lightning in Australia.

You will also need to differentiate between "died of Covid" and "died of something else, but happened to have Covid". Turns out that a very large percentage of "Covid deaths" actually fall into the latter group.

It's a disease that had to be taken seriously.

Now it's time to go back to normal.

And that should start with letting the children go back to normal.

    The chance of mask killing...

So anyway, you are throwing out some stuffs that are weird. Not many folks have died of covid in Australia because they went ultra lockdown. I don't think you want that type of lockdown in Germany. Folks dying of covid or happen to have covid -- i don't know where you get this data from but I've seen so many bs from that type of reporting.

Not sure how it is where you are, but here, kids are already normal, masking or not. What's not yet normal is the closing of schools, missing classes and missing teachers who are out for covid...

Now that Omicron is the dominant strain and most people have had the chance to get vaccinated, I do think it's unnecessary to require people to wear masks in most setting outside of hospitals or related industries.

Before it made sense with Delta and the state of the pandemic.

Also airplanes have amazing filtering systems so it's far less likely to get viruses on planes unless the passenger next to you sneezes on ya.

All that said, calling it child abuse and making it political accomplishes nothing.

    me too

the surgical or cloth mask usually have a huge gap at the nose area causing fogging

n95, kf94, kn95 are much better at directing air through the mask, not the gaps as they are better at "fitting" to your face

I have found kf94 (my kids wear these; they come in adult size as well) is the best tradeoff between comfort and fit. The "boat" shaped one (NBA player wear these) looks cool to me also. KN95 (i also have the one you showed) is pretty good too but not as comfortable. N95 I tried is about the same as that KN95.
