Houston is one of the least coolest places on earth Seriously, it's like 95 every day. Alaska is definitely the coolest place in America. On a serious note, if Houston wasn't home to family, friend and familiarity, it would suck. It's flat, polluted, and hot. The only thing I can say I truly like about Houston is its ethnic diversity. But has a personal who's more on the hippy side, likes nature, clean air and water, scenery and nice weather...Houston doesn't have much to offer. Houston also isn't the best city to be a vegan and organic healthy nut, not any restaurants, not much acceptance or understanding from people who live here, complete opposite on the west cost.
When the median age is 33..and that lasts for a while...you attract things that others see as being "cool." Regardless, it's an economic dynamo...and the difference between this up-tick cycle is that the money pouring in isn't entrepreneurial, but institutional.
Oh noooos, it's flat. Boo hoo. People that like money like Houston. Vegan stuff, yeah, go to Wyoming.
Sure... but the vast amounts of extra money you save by living in Houston, vs. living on the west coast, gives you more money to play with. People in Houston have money to spend... and they like to have a good time. Additionally, after having a good time, they can still afford to do smart things like invest or buy needed goods/services as they haven't dropped all their money on rent or parking like other big cities. Yes, its hot... but its not brutally cold either. Yes, its spread out... but its also not overly cramped with traffic on every single city street, and people literally living on top of one another. Yes, its got no mass transit... well, actually I don't have anything to respond to that because I feel it should.
This. Houston is where the money is at. We can take vacas to places like Miami NY Vegas LA when we want. I'll be in NYC on the 21st actually.
Houston is my hometown and I love it, but I'm buttering up my wife for an eventual move up north. I threw in the towel on the heat and humidity a couple years ago. That said, Houston is better than most people think. But 4th "coolest"? I don't know about that.
Yeah but you can get a good job in Houston, the people are nice and there is a lot of opportunity. You are right about the pollution point, Los Angeles has Houston on that point... VERY clean/clear air.
It's cool to have a nice job, nice pad and a nice car. As opposed to a cool place like LA, where you may not have any of those things.
I don't think people living in Texas and Houston especially, realize just HOW great the economy is compared to 75% of the rest of the country. Currently I am living in Chicago and have been successful, but it is rotting from the inside out financially and it isn't unique in that way.
But it's sooo cool That's why my friend who just moved back was hating it...brutal winters and a tough job market are super cool!
Ill have to check it out. Im right near Dupont-but Im also under 21. So that might be why I dont see a lot lf nightlife.
Lol c'mon bro I know you understood I was talking about abundance of restaurants, organic food, and how locals react or when learning my diet, when I was comparing the west coast to Houston. At no point did I say LA was less polluted the Houston. You guys are just too funny sometimes when some of you try to twist words around so ya'll can find something to talk **** about.
Excellent suggestion! ****ing beautiful. So Ill go enjoy that, as you recommended, and Ill leave you to enjoy all of this Spoiler Enjoy!!!
Houston is pretty damn awesome and people make money here. With that said, as soon as I graduate in May, I will be looking for jobs in Denver and LA. Those places better fit the lifestyle that I want, especially Denver (numerous parks, walking/biking trails, much better transit, awesome weather, and of course legal weed). If Houston could at least get more of the first three things I named, then I would consider staying more. The city has been working on it though.
Enjoy having all your friends and family live a stressful life, getting diseases from all the polluted air, water and food!! Ok, i'm done with this lol, i'm not trying to wish anything bad on you, but living in the city does undoubtedly create physical and mental stress. Btw, you **** in a hole too, it's just a whole with a pipe that takes your **** to another hole.
If people didn't make money here there wouldn't be many people here. It is a city of flat land and strip malls.
Thank you for an actual genuine and mature response. I'm definitely not saying Houston has nothing at all to offer, 3 million people aren't here for nothing. I just said it doesn't seem to have much to offer for me, I personally highly value fresh food, water, air and beautiful scenery, nature, mountains, the beach etc. Thats just me, obviously everybody has their own values, and material things, lots of money, cars and houses may be way more valuable to others then to my self. I respect everybody's opinions and values.
I don't live in Houston and havent in years... I live in Chicago, and have been buying property in rural Tennessee and Georgia because..... I don't really like big cities. No, I don't **** in a "whole"....
