When I got my first job at a law firm, I had to wear a suit everyday. I went to Jos A Bank and got 4 suits. I got the Business Express suit separates. They are now about $300 per suit if you get the sale. I got navy blue, grey, grey with pinstripes, and olive. These suits were incredibly durable. They lasted me for 4 YEARS with proper care. This was wearing each one roughly 5 times a month. I just recently got a little...ahem...fluffier. So I got some more of the same suits. So far...no problems. That would be my recommendation.
I don't know why I didn't ask my dad first. He wouldn't let me buy anything JoS A Bank or Men's Warehouse had to offer. I couldn't find anything at Macy's either, but I ended up with 4 Hart Shaffner Marx suits. I have to admit these are some of the nicest suits I've seen. They are a bit more expensive, but definitely well worth it. And I ended up buying one for my dad too. I've got all the basic colors down and then some with pinstripes. Looks like I'm set for a while. Thanks for your help.
I'm in a suit everyday for work and have to wear the jacket (at least every morning). I have abou 12 suits I rotate through to make it work. However, to start with I'd say you need 5 or 4 and a sports coat - then you can rotate the suits and not have to wear the suit more than once a week. I see a lot of people suggesting places to buy suits - I can tell you if you want decent suits for under $200 you can go to K&G. You can get a decent suit for between $120 and $150 there...it's not Armani or anything, but you won't embarass yourself.
Anyone know of a good made to measure suit store? I'm a small guy and stuff at Men's Warehouse won't even fit me. I definitely need a custom suit.
There was this older guy that was nice when I went there... but they suck at tailoring. Sym's have some decent ties and a few nice shirts if you look hard enough. LOL! This suit is BLACKNOT.
Buy a Trio from Jos A Bank. It's a suit with an extra pair of patterned slacks that go with the jacket. They are blowing them out for $250 right now (half off regular price). I own 4 or 5 of them.
Hart Shaffner Marx suits are generally considered some of the best bang for your buck off the rack suits available. They are pretty much made with the same material and construction of suits that cost many hundreds if not thousands more. You will never go wrong with a properly tailored Hart Shaffner Marx suit.
