Good catch, my fault. I wish I could blame it on a typo, but I had 33 in my head for some reason. Little bit better at 31.
Honestly, the flimsiness of all these arguments just illustrates how dreadful this trade really was. Not a single redeeming factor.
I like our lineup of ppat, lowry, gasol, lee, and bud, but man pau was traded for expiring contracts a few years ago and now it takes the entire rockets roster.
Yessir! We needed someone that we could dump the ball inside and give them hell. Check! Now we just need to improve our backcourt which is much easier to do.
The thing is, the Rockets are not getting older: Gasol and Scola are both 31. Martin is 28 and will be replaced by Courtney Lee, who is almost 3 years younger, in the rotation. Maybe 2009 draftee Terrence Williams gets some burn, too. Dragic is the only truly young guy in that trade, and we got him from the recycling bin last season-- he's like Oscar the Grouch. As for the picks, they are not high value ones anyway. So, the team didn't sacrifice the future in this deal at all.
A few years ago, Pau was traded for a guy who's a better player than anyone on this entire roster right now. Hardly a steal. Anyway, we traded a 31 year old for a 31 year old and cleared some cap space. Hardly something to get worked up about. Hopefully we do really well this season and attract some talent next offseason.
