It's not the coach, it's the identity.

The remnants of JVG defensive schemes got us 22 in a row. The remnants of JVG have worn off, and now we are soft, finesse fairies, just like Sacramento used to be.

 We were favored against the Blazers the year we reached the 2nd round. Against all odds, you make it sound like we were the Warriors against the Mavs. If we had gone against the Jazz instead of the Blazers, chances are we would have lost yet again, Portland was just a pretty good matchup since they have traditional defensive Cs, which are basically the kind Yao Ming dominates.

Also JVG over achieved with his bunch, we had Yao and Tmac but we also had reefer, clarence weatherspoon, scott padgett and of course Luther Head. Please don't pin this team's success on RA, we all know it was DM who brought in Brooks, Scola, Landry and all the other great guys on this team.

If Rick coached the same roster aa JVG, Utah would of still owned us.

The one thing I liked about JVG, he would not accept a 1-6 record without calling players out. Rick just has that look, no control over there players.

If Lowry shot 2-10, JVG, would of sat his ass down.

Well considering your Rick the ruler has a fascination with Jeffries and Chuck Hayes I don't really know why you are criticizing JVG's pet players. At least JVG had the excuse of his entire roster being crap. RA has two lottery picks on the team gathering dust but still sticks with the 6'6 situational role player and the dude Knickschick hates with all her might.

The roster was crap because those are the type of players he wanted. He wanted low level talent that worked hard and played D. No young players, no knuckleheads.

    What bench?

    Oh right

55 Dikembe Mutombo (out of the NBA)
20 Steve Novak (2 min this season)
35 Scott Padgett (out of the NBA)
    13 Kirk Snyder (prison?)
    10 Vassilis Spanoulis (ask DD)
25 Jake Tsakalidis (out of NBA)
6 Bonzi Wells (coaching the NY Jets)
15 John Lucas (hoping to get with the Shanghai Sharks again)
2 Luther Head (Kings, shooting 21% from 3)

So you have one legit NBA player, and it was Luthar Freakin Head.

    On to the starters

Current chuck Hayes > Back then Chuck
    Luis > Howard
    Old Battier > Now Battier
    Brooks > Alston

Yao ming broke his leg that year and never got his mojo back. So compared to Rick, JVG had a marginally better Battier and you favorite player TMAC.

Defense has gone drastically downhill since his departure and they have now hit the bottom.

Yeah he would have hated Luis Scola. No young players? Head got tons of minutes and had his best year under JVG. Try again hater.

    Bingo.

Why do we have a bunch of ex-Kings on the Rockets?

    Answer:

The same reason JVG had a bunch of ex-Knicks on the Rockets.

Didn't think that JVG would consider an ass't position but if he would the Rox should do it, just not sure Adelman would be cool with it since JVG is not one of his guys.

Too early to push the panic button but if we're playing like this in December I would expect some house cleaning with our considerable assets.

    Great reasoning.
Let's apply this to Dream's championship team.
I bet it would be like this:
    Dream (out of NBA),
    Clyde (out of NBA),
    Smith (out of NBA),
    ........
    ........

wow, that's championship team do not even have single one legit NBA player.

I would be willing to accept JVG back as defensive coordinator but there is no way I want to see a JVG offense run with this team especially with no Yao.

He's happy living in Houston and calling games one or twice a week. Other than putting up with Mark Jackson, it's a pretty good gig.

    You tool.

I always liked JVG and I still do. I never agreed with any of those threads. Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing Jeff come back to the Rockets.

That being said, Rick needs to stay with our team. He is doing a good job. Even JVG had a couple terrible seasons here when his star players where injured and everyone else that started was end of the bench material on any other team.

What do you guys think of Jerry Sloan as our new head coach? I think Houston might change the plural marriage laws to accommodate Sloan's adopted culture and make him feel more comfortable.
