There's one big difference. When Scottie was here and showed his true colors,
nobody defended pulling this 'when Scottie was with the Bulls in 90 something he was the best blah blah

Now for Tmac, the "Tmac in 02-03" is mentioned , hint that's Orlando not Houston

Rocket pride in general, its at an all time low on Clutchfans. we were all united on Pippen, we don't pull that he was so awesome with Jordan crap, we only care what he does for the Rockets

This board was once all about the Rockets, now its not. The Jedi are being slaughtered by the T-Siths

I have nothing against Tmac, a portion of his fans are naive fans who don't respect the Rockets or the NBA. Reality is now, if our best players are always hurt and can't master the coach's offense then we're never going to win a title.

but that's if the fans care about winning a title.

This is definitely Tracy's year to prove he's worth all the money we pay him for. we didn't pay him for 02-03 Orlando, we don't need a scoring champion, we need a player who can take us somewhere in the playoffs.

if that's not going to happen, then management has to make a decision on him. it's on them.

I agree. Nique put up video-game like numbers but never did much else. Watching old Nique games on NBATv I have noticed that Nique used to take some incredibly selfish shots. His teams weren't half bad, but he still took tons of bad shots in spite of having two young, athletic bigs in Antoine Carr and Kevin Willis down low as well as other solid teammates.

He should've been one of the 50 greatest though.

The window is closing fast on Tracy McGrady.

    Terrific post!

That is truly what it is all about. However, just as annoying as the Tracy fanboys are the senile members who try to crucify him at every turn...

With the addition of Artest, I think there's definitely a great chance for the Rockets to do some damage in the playoffs if everyone is healthy. He could be for Tmac what Sam Cassell was for Kevin Garnett. I'm not really sold on Yao Ming in the playoffs yet since he was outplayed so badly during the Utah series.

Nobody before Sam came had the balls to call out Garnett and tell him what to do. Sam did. plus nobody had the balls to shoot the ball before Sam came.

    To me, Sam was co-MVP

    Remember this?

ROUNDUP: N.B.A. PLAYOFFS; Cassell Shows Timberwolves How to Win in Postseason

    Published: April 19, 2004

Kevin Garnett and the Minnesota Timberwolves might have finally found their formula for postseason success in a clutch, savvy point guard named Sam Cassell.

Cassell tied a career high with 40 points,
Garnett put up 30 points and 20 rebounds, and the top-seeded Timberwolves beat the Denver Nuggets, 106-92, last night in Game 1 of their first-round series in Minnesota.

    http://www.nba.com/timberwolves/history/recap_round2_0304.html

Fresh off their first playoff series win in franchise history, the Timberwolves matched up with the Sacramento Kings in the Western Conference Semifinals, with the Wolves holding homecourt advantage.

But after Game 1, that advantage belonged to Sacramento. Mike Bibby scored 14 first-quarter points as the Kings jumped out to a 34-27 lead after one quarter. The Wolves narrowed the gap to one at halftime, and then one again with under four minutes remaining after Sam Cassell hit four three-pointers and Fred Hoiberg one in the fourth quarter, but Bibby responded with back-to-back shots and then assisted Chris Webber's jumper that put the Kings up seven as Sacramento escaped with a 104-98 win.

Cassell finished with 40 points, his second 40-point outing of the playoffs, while Trenton Hassell had 17 and Kevin Garnett had 16 points with 18 rebounds on the night he received the 2003-04 NBA MVP trophy.

tinman, let's be realistic. This is new age NBA, yonug and tough guys are rulling it.
If we trade TMac for let's say Wade (hipothetically!) and he brings Conference Finals, I guarantee you those guys who you call not true Rockets fans will jump on the wagon, so don't go generalizing all the way. And for TMac, he is one of the greatest tallents in the league and many of us believe he can bring it on. He is fragile though. But still, some of us believe that tallent will eventually elevate to something. So don't go comparing times when we were all on the same page regarding Quitten and that nowadas TMac fans are not true Rockets fans. We'll judge the day when all is said and done with TMac era, untill than you are no more of a Rockets fan than any TMac fan.

Wrong. Hey, I never rooted or gave a poop about how great he was in Orlando, for which he wasn't cause he didn't lead his team to anything.

A Rocket fan knows the rich tradition of the HOUSTON ROCKETS, not the ORLANDO MAGIC.

Real Rocket fans know that Clyde Drexler was better than Tracy McGrady

    hamza,

we were all Rockets fans back in the day. Today the word "HOUSTON" and the word "ROCKETS" are not as important to some of these people here.

The word "TMac" seems to be more important, the phrase "If he had" also follows it.

Did we ever say "Do you remember when Kenny Smith was with Sacremento? or when Clyde was with Portland?"

this generation of 'tracy mcgrady is the rockets fans' loves to make comparisons to champions and mvps, loves to blame others like coaches, trainers, tall chinese guys, when he fails. they love to talk about the days in orlando like they were employees at Disney World.

As Rocket fans in the past, we lived in a cocoon where the team was more important than one player, we didn't have marketing people all over the Dream. it was about the Rockets, it was about family, Rudy T, Calvin, they started as Rockets, the won as Rockets. Dream started in Houston and he won in Houston. Clyde was from Houston.

An outsider like Tmac comes in, and so does his fans who live in the one player marketing machine of the NBA. Now we are the epitome of NBA Marketing. Its not about Gallery Furniture anymore (Houston guy), its about Adidas and Tsing Tsao beer.

And all the kids here, cause you know they are kids. There parents weren't Rocket fans cause they would have taught them better.

So supporting Tmac is being a bad rockets fan?

You clearly have no idea how important he is to the team and the organization. Please look up rockets all time leaders in the playoffs and he is top 5 in almost every category. He's been our best player for the last 5 years, about 10 bad games and all of a sudden he's a scrub and not worthy of rooting for. That is so drastic.

Supporting Tmac over the Rockets. yes that makes you a bad Rockets fan.

I don't give a F**K about Tmac's stats. I'm not one of you Tmac fans.
I'm a Rockets fan, we care about championships and team.

we don't like it when one of players quits on defense, complains about his injuries when he should have taken care of it in the off season.

I root for the team, not the player and certainly not the player only fan, to hell with those guys.

Im not a Tmac only fan. Not at all. Im extremely frustrated with him right now, but Ive watched every single rockets game since the early 90s and I know that he's one of the best players ive seen in a rockets uniform. I'm frustrated with him now, but I remember watching hundreds of games where he was clearly the best player on the floor, teams doubled him and he would unselfishly find the open man and pick up everyones play around him, and do pretty much everything you can ask of a player and the team still lost. Ive seen people get mad at him for missing a shot here and there in these types of games where it was clear that he was the top performer on the team. Ive also watched games where the whole team played great ball, and tmac struggled, but no one complained then. It made me realize that all people care about is winning. In order to do that, the entire team has to play well. Tmac included. I know he's capable of playing well, so why the heck wouldnt i root for him?

I'm rooting for him. I just hate his followers, the ones who keep comparing him to kobe, the ones who think he was better than shaq, the ones who keep sucking on his orlando magic days.

but i'm am really pissed at his attitude this year. that has to change.

can u please watch every single playoff game mcgrady has played in and tell me what about his attitude cost the team games? If you really care about a championship first, you want a player like tracy mcgrady on your team. His performance in the playoffs has been brilliant and its overshadowed by the fact that the team wasnt able to win the series. Everybody knows it. The coaches, the players...jon barry a former team mate was interviewed before a playoff game last year and they asked him about mcgrady and why he cant lead a team out of the first round and he said something like: look, thats all garbage. I played with the guy when we faced the mavs in round 1 and he scored, he set guys up, he hit big shot after big shot, he shut down dirk nowitzki, he rebounded. he did just about everything a guy can do to help his team, and it wasnt enough. Its a tough league. you cant just look at one guy and say he's not a leader because his team lost a playoff series.

If the cavs were in the west the last few years they probably struggle to get out of the first round, but does that mean lebron isnt a leader and his attitude stinks....no it just means the cavs werent good enough.
