I find the pictures of tanks in these threads quite comical.

This. It really depends on how bad you did and how bad stern feels about what he did to this team. I still think les needs to send one of his sick relatives to rep the team during the lotto.

I fear more "assets" will be drafted in the upcoming years... Current Rockets players are too proud to tank...

Totally correct DD. I remember running the numbers on this a few years ago in a thread. You really need a top #7 pick to have a chance:

Please don't over-exaggerate. He has tried, but its not like he has unearthed Ginobili, Arenas, Varejao, Monta Ellis, Redd, Marc Gasol, Millsap, Boozer in the second round. And his first round picks at best are manageable.

However, he has also managed to miss players like Rondo, Millsap, Glen Davis, Marc Gasol, Deandre Jordan, Omer Asik, Taj Gibson, Dajuan Blair

Oh and lets not forget that he had gems like Nicolas Batum and Rudy Gay in his hands, and managed to let them go.

So what exactly has he proven- donte green, patterson, budinger and aaron brooks.

^This, they're still ahead of last year's pace.

Donte Greene was traded for Artest, which is funny because we traded Batum for him to turn around and get Artest. Rudy Gay we traded for Battier, and payroll flexibility. I can't complain about either move.

If I have a complaint, it is that he has a love for undersized PFs and players that are upperclassmen.

Quoted for truth, I think he believes they will be cheaper on the long run.
I would still take Batum over Ron Artest any day

Today, yeah, but at the time, it was really our last good shot at contending.

Are we really that bad? We've had injuries lately to two key players, have had an extremely difficult schedule, and we are one Goran Dragic passed up layup from being 3-0 at home, all of which were quality opponents.

The team certainly has a problem playing on the road, but they look like the same team they have the last two years.

If we can keep Lowry out of the line-up for a while, that will help.

But reality is, the only way we can get a top 5 pick is if we move Scola very soon. And Martin - that would be great.

But without Scola, we will really suck, and that's what we need right now.

Hopefully we can move Scola to a contender as an appreciation of his hard work and dedication to the club.

My friend, if you think we (or any other team) is going to get a GM who consistently gets All-Stars in the second round, I suggest you switch to watching the NFL.

The fact that every year, a few players drafted after we pick turn out better than our guys hardly proves we have a bad GM. You can do the same thing with Presti, Buford, or Cuban.

Though Morris and Motiejunas look promising, it's too early to tell with these guys. But if you're honestly not happy with four starters - Green, Pat, Bud, and Brooks - considering Morey's never picked higher than 14, I suggest you take a look around the league. Most franchises would kill to have our draft record. He's made a series of great trades with the Gay/Battier deal being the only one he's lost, and we haven't got one - not a single one - bad contract on the roster. Morey's a great GM and we're lucky to have him. You're like a guy complaining his .400 hitter misses over half the time.

If you took the time to read, and then took a few minutes to comprehend what you just read, you will understand I was replying to the poster who made it sound like Morey was performing miracles on the draft boards and stealing all the hidden gems available.:rolleyes:

I never said Morey was a bad gm, I'm not on the bandwagon with those asking for him to get fired- just pointing out that he is not such a good drafter as most people easily assume.

They won't given us a pick for this years draft unless it is already a contender and therefore a low pick. We are talking a 2014 or 2015 pick.

The Artest we got helped lead us past the first round and brought a toughness this team was lacking. Nic Batum isn't even starting in Portland. Not saying I don't want Batum back, but I'm just here to piss in your corn flakes, you Darwin damn Debbie downer.
