LOL! You want him to do more? 29 points and 13 assists, 3 blocks? What more could you ******g do! Your standards for him are clearly too high.
The Rockets missed Yao. I really have to question how realistic it is to expect that they can make the conference finals. What they've done so far is overachieve. No one in the media even expected them to make the playoffs when Yao went out, let alone get to first place. Viewed from that context how can you knock them for losing a game? No matter what happens they've laid a solid foundation for next year. And they've almost guaranteed that their rookies will be able to get some playoff experience this year. I say sit back and enjoy the ride, but all of my hopes are pinned on next season. That said, a first round playoff victory is definitely achievable...
I disagree.... During this win streak, can you honestly say that Mcgrady was playing at an MVP level?? I mean there were plenty of games during this streak were he didnt crack 20 pts and shot below 42% and the Rockets still pulled out a victory.... Just because Mcgrady is the best player on a team that won 22 games in a row, doesnt mean he is playing at a mvp level... Its the same case with what happened with Portland.... Everyone thought that Roy was playing at a MVP level during their win streak, but honestly he was just doing what he had to do.... Same with Mcgrady.... His teamates stepped up more than him... and in one game they dont show up, Mcgrady doesnt step up also.... This 22 game winning streak proves that these Rockets do not need Mcgrady playing at a high level to win most of their games.... However when you are playing the best team in the league, Mcgrady just flat out has to show some ****ing life.
Wasn't Mcgrady named Western Conference player of the month in Feb...The month we went undefeated. To me, that says he was playing at an MVP level.
so you think the Rockets can defeat the best team in the league scoring 11 points.... Yes the Cs played great D, however superstars have another gear and Mcgrady proved that he doesnt..... And he played 48 mintues for 2 games during the run.... Every starter in the nba has a high burden to carry.... Kobe is older, Peirce is older(and more out of shape) than Mcgrady... yet these guys find ways to attempt more than 11 shots and score more than 10 points for their team.....
My bad he was named player of the week, but come on man. He was playing at an MVP level. Most of the games he played poorly were games we still had Yao.
I agree. They missed Yao terribly last night with the likes of Leon Powe going off on us inside. No inside presence, especially in the West where you have Gasol, Duncan, Stoudamire, O'Neal, and other good front court players, is going to hurt come playoff time. I believe they'll make the playoffs but conference finals might be stretching it. I hope they do go that far but even a first round series victory would be great. I agree. Everybody left them for dead once the announcement on Yao was made. They won double digits games in a row without him still and boosted themselves into the top of the Western Conference. We all knew the streak was going to end too. You can't really knock them for losing a game I just wish it wasn't a blowout. Good points but I ams till hoping to see some good successes this season as well. Thank you.
I don't think it proved that Tmac doesn't have that extra gear.I think it proved that the Celtics play better defense than any other team in the league, and its not even close.
lol.... I believe Roy was to when Portland was on the streak.... Its called pseudo mvp caliber play.... The league was forced to give it to Mcgrady since he is clearly the best player on a team that went undefeated for a month..... However, its quite obvious his team stepped up more than him during this run.... Rafer, Landry, Scola...etc... it was a team 22 game winning streak and Mcgrady was a part in it....
Go ahead and blame Tmac for the team losing this game. Go milk it all over yourself in the bathroom. You were nowhere to be found during the win streak. Your agenda is apparent.
I wonder if every competent scorer in the league scores below 10 pts against teh C's.... Again its a case of Mcgrady not stepping up... There actually a few occasions in the game were Mcgrady was in complete iso on the wing.... what did he do with the ball?? He stared down his defender, waiving the ball around for 15 seconds and then passed it out
Yeh, you're right about that...before Yao went down.... Since then he has had to play at a really high level for us to compete.
Yeh because he was defended well. Would you have rathered he take 30 ill advised shots and shoot 25 percent. Give credit where credit is due. The Celtics are the best defensive team in the league.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOO MUCH FOR GETTING THIS OFF YOUR CHEST I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO SAY THIS FOREVER!!
Well said. I was thinking about posting a thread similar to this one. IMHO it is extremely difficult to find the balance between Tmac and Team-mac, and Tracy has done a terrific job this season. He is not forcing anything, and playing to what the defense gives him. He attacks whenever he had a good chance, and if the opponent overly committed on stopping him, he always find the open teammate instead of forcing the issue and jack off a well-contested shot. That's how we got this amazing winning streak, and that's how we beat the Lakers on Sunday. If you watched Sunday's game, both teams' defensive strategy focused on stopping the opponent's best player, Kobe and Tmac. Kobe was forcing everything, and ended up 11-33, while Tmac was being Team Mac and focused on getting everyone involved. The final score speaks for itself. Unfortunately yesterday we ran into an extremely good defensive team in the Celtics, which had the ability to contain Mcgrady without leaving much holes elsewhere on defense. Combining that with a huge disadvantage in front court size, and an off night shooting, and we got beat bad. I guess in this type of games where nothing is going well offensively, everyone wants to see a super star rising to the challenge and go off for 40 points, unfortunately that's not going to happen against a great defensive team. Kobe was unable to go off on us, and Tmac probably won't be able to go off on the Celtics if he chose to. Instead of jacking off 30 shots and get his number, he chose to play within the system that got us 22 wins in a row, and that's exactly what he should do. As long as we keep playing this way, sharing the ball and play hard together, we will keep on winning.
Honestly, look at his stats before and after Yao went down... They are about the same.... Again I repeat, its more about his teammates stepping up when Yao went down than Mcgrady stepping up....
And would you not admit that alot of the offense his teammates bring is a result of Tracy being on the floor attracting double teams and His ability to find the open man?
So this is the "excuses I come up with for McGrady's last two crappy games" thread? Yes, McGrady has been pretty awesome for the last month or so. But he has not played up to that level the last two games. We were extremely lucky that Rafer and the defense stepped up to win that Lakers game. Hopefully McGrady snaps out of this mini-funk or the rockets are in trouble.
