Another moment! I was sitting in a bar last weekend and talking to this really fine young lady. And I found out that I'm older than her dad! "sigh"
I've got more money now but I can't enjoy it as much as when I was younger. Such as going skiing more or other adventure sports. It is true that youth is wasted on the young.
Hmmmm, I could have sworn I read that Jimi only lit his guitar on fire twice. Once was Monterey and the other was Sweden or Holland. The time he lit it on fire in Sweden or Holland, he almost burned the place down. That was the last time he did it.
There are a few things that really make me feel old: - I have a sister who is a couple of years younger than me. When people asked about my family, I would usually mention that I had a teenage sister. Then it hit me one time - I calculated her age and she was now 25! - My parents still live in the house that I grew up in the Midwest. My mom keeps me informed when we speak on the phone as to what's going on in the neighborhood where I grew up. Every so often she'll say something like 'the neighbor girl got her driver's license yesterday'. Sometimes I'll have a difficult time placing the name until I realize that it was the neighbor girl that was in kindergarten the last time I lived at home. - This final one just happened last week. I was driving down the road and it hit me: I'm approaching thirty and driving down the road in a minivan listening to the Wiggles with my kids. I don't know how it happened, but I'm the dad now. To steal an Owen Wilson line from Armageddon, that realization was 99% cool and 1% terrifying, or maybe it's the other way around.
I'm starting to get up there (around 31 or something) but I will never let myself be old enough to buy a minivan. Luckily my wife agrees.
have you seen the Saturn ad where the guy talks about his new car being perfect for "rolling with his boys....throwing back juice boxes??" and then it flashes to the backseat where his two little boys are sitting.
I'm 29 years old While doing classroom observations for my teaching certification for a 6th grade class, I was helping the students with their power point projects on the solar system. Well, one of the criteria for the assignment was to find the Greek or Roman god associated with the planet they were researching. While one of the kids was Googling pictures for their planet, one of the pictures that came up was from the old movie "Clash of the Titans." I made the mistake of saying something like, "Whoa, Clash of the Titans, have you guys seen that movie?" One student responded with, "I've seen Remember the Titans." I said something like, "Oh, well this movie was out when I was a kid." Then another student said, "Sir, I'm only 11 years old." Needless to say, I felt my age.
My wife and I said exactly the same thing until it came time to actually purchase a family vehicle and we had to determine if we wanted a minivan or an SUV. After comparing sticker prices, fuel efficiency, and energy prices, we determined that retaining any appearances of coolness was going to cost way more than it was worth.
Found this thread while trying to find a post I'd made about seeing Hendrix in concert, in order to get back to AggieRocket about what it was like... I didn't even realize it was in this thread that I was asked about it. (I'm still looking for my post... not too good at the search thing, I guess) Pipe, it was the Jefferson Airplane that got shut down by the cops at the Coluseum. The clock had struck midnight, and the cops said, "That's it... gotta stop!" The Airplane refused to quit playing, and when they turned off their power the Airplane became really pissed, the crowd became really pissed, and a little riot broke out. I made off with the triangular end of one of those barricade thingies they used to use. Just walked out with it and had it for years. After that they weren't nearly so eager to turn off the power during a concert. It was a ludicrous rule anyway, because back then most of them had at least three groups play, and they didn't play for 20 minutes, either. BTW, the times I saw Jimi play he didn't burn his Strat. I have no doubt that he burned plenty before he came onstage, as well as doing a lot of other things of one type or another. Saw the Moving Sidewalks (pre-ZZ Top) open for the Doors at the same venue. They were great!
