For the minority of "fans" who felt we were better off making the playoffs...

Horrible post, horrible thread. Neg rep.

If we're not for tanking, if we want the team to do as well as possible, we're "fans?"

Real fans are NEVER for tanking.

looks like most clutchfans users cant think long term. rockets free agent stock isnt that good. if they miss the playoffs it will be even worse. making it at least gives them a decent chance to get a 2nd or 3rd tier free agent. it will look really bad if the rockets competition to the playoffs was the inexperienced jazz and they still didnt make it.

the 12th pick would've been useless since we're trying to win now, and dekker will play the rookie role next season (if he's on the team) and he'll have an advantage beign one year in the league. so nothing lost there

dont just think about the tema getting swept, think about the offseason and next season

I'm going to give you the OP a life lesson really quick.
If you don't try, you have already quit.

What's to say the draft pick would have been of any value? is Jones? Royce? Dekker?
stop with the, '' we shouldn't have made the playoffs'' please!!! it's just ludicrous and stupid to think the way you think.

There's value in making the playoffs, because the young roster gets experience. Now stop creating posts kid.

I don't know how many years we had to watch the Steve Francis teams and the Kevin Martin teams barely miss the playoffs. That feeling sucked far more than losing in the playoffs. Better to at least take a shot and get crushed than to sit at home and wait for a next year that never comes.

    Daryl Morey's diary:

Note for next trade: Make sure to protect all picks for 1) lottery and 2) first-round sweep by 20-point margins every game.

The whole playoff atmosphere is experience. It's not just the minutes.

Should we start a poll? I think the most recent poll showed the majority wanted to make the playoffs after we made a run beating the juggernaut Lakers, Timberwolves, and Kings.

If making the playoffs is an argument to attract free agents, getting spanked is an argument to scare away free agents.

So Anthony Davis is happy he is watching, rather than be given the opportunity to win a championship? John Wall is happy in Washington right? I can guarantee you that they'd rather be on a team that makes the playoffs regardless of seed because that is the first step in winning the title. Can't win a freaking ring from he couch!!!

I understand. But you should also understand why I pointed that out like I did. This team was a .500 team, did not have any real chemistry with one another despite our main pieces from last year still being there, regressed harshly on defense this season (everyone did, not just Harden), fell way below our high expectations considering the talent we had on the roster. If we would have made it because of players coming back from injury or finally playing our true best ball of the year, then I would have been optimistic. But there were numerous times, the effort simply was not there, and you can't deny that lack of effort was a major problem.

I know the options were Playoffs or Draft Pick (in an admittedly weak draft class), I felt the pick would have best been utilized to get the biggest albatross contract off our team (Brewer) and try our luck in FA and to get an established coach who can maximize the talent on the roster. I felt that getting curb stomped by GS or SA in Round 1 would not help us out as much when it comes to FA. I know that "what if" always comes to mind for a monumental upset in sports, but if they played with hustle all year, then I would not be as upset with the team, compared to a team that has clearly under-performed with the talent we have.

I was attacking those who used any profanities to reply, like what you and snowcone did.

Sorry HeyP, I'm not a Texans fan. It was good to see them win the division last season, but I knew they weren't going to do anything serious with Hoyer as their QB. KC's opening kickoff TD was like SEA scoring via a Safety vs DEN to open up SB 48. The game was over at that point. I will be hoping they can win the division again, but the only game that I actually want them to lose is when they play the Packers at Lambeau (I've been a Packers fan since before the Oilers left for Tenn. and I never had that true bond with the Texans). But I don't rub it in or crap on them or their fans when they lose (THAT is reserved for Cowboys fans).

You clearly missed where I said that pick would be best served in getting rid of Brewer instead of picking a player that won't help us out immediately. I do want to say Thank You for that life lesson...but these players didn't try the majority of the season. If they did truly try all season, we can all agree that they would have been well above .500, would not have been the #8 seed, and have to play either GS or SA to open their post-season.

I'm pretty sure Morey would've tanked too, he knows this roster is done, that's why he was trying to trade Howard...Les on the other hand...

If we were competitive, we'd be seen as a FA destination. With our team, who would want to join the mess we have?

DMo and KJ were lone bright spots, off the top of my head. DMo really hustled and wanted to make something happen out there. KJ was great on the defensive end.

Overall our team just doesn't have enough playmakers, so when someone tries to make a play, something excruciatingly dumb happens.

no, missed the opportunity to use the pick to pay someone off to take Corey Sewer's contract off our hands...
