Great haircut/wedding advice. Thank you Scribo for your review, Derek and I are about as far from being frat-kind of people as you can get. We definitely will not be doing THAT. I'm a very frugal person and I don't see the point in frills, or anything extravagant really. I want my wedding to be memorable, but I'm definitely not going over-the-top with it. My dad found a place in Houston that will handle the full reception for up to 100 people for $2500. Includes the place, food, and decorations. Does that sound like a reasonable price? Your honeymoon sounds like it was incredible! I looove hiking and white water rafting (class five ftw!) and mentioned Colorado as a potential honeymoon destination, but Derek shot it down because he doesn't want to be in the same state as the Denver Broncos. I kind of feel the same way about Utah and the Jazz, but we might be making exceptions. I'd just adore staying in a private cabin/condo and being able to do outdoorsy stuff. I agree with what you said about weddings - I bought a "Modern Bride" magazine a couple weeks ago on a whim and DAMN. They really try to convince you that you need everything exorbitant. All of their "sample planned weddings" were over $50K. I'm going to try to keep it under a fraction of that.
Oh man! I go to the doctor and miss out on all the fun girl chat today! Okay I am going to try to comment on this thread all in one fell swoop. The haircut... Not a fan of having shorter hair in the back because of my love of pony tails when I play sports. It causes no undue fuss when you wear it down, but trying to pull it up.. hassle hassle hassle. It looks good one the right facial structure though. My cousin wears hers like this and she has an oval shaped face that is emphasized by the length of the hair curling around her chin. Looks really nice on her, on me with my more rounded face, not so much. Thick hair... my hairstylist is a genius when it comes to this. I have naturally thick hair with lots of wave to it, but not sausage curls. She makes lots of layers in it so that it naturally bounces up into the layered waves when I let it air dry. If I use "curl" product and a diffuser I get some really nice curls that frame my face and the product keeps it from frizzing and looking like a major poof ball in the back of my head. Church Weddings... love love love them. Here though if you don't get your's reserved a year in advance it's nearly impossible to get a Saturday night. Also, unless you do the "Catholic Pre-marriage Counseling" they won't let you get married in the church. Something you might want to check out is other Christian churches that are more traditional but less restrictive. I know there are a couple of really nice churches here that are Lutheran and Baptist that are more "catholic" looking in their design, but they are much more willing to let anyone use their church to get married. One of the girls I went to school with got married in a Baptist church that was more beautiful than our Catholic Cathedral. It had stained glass and a really nicely designed alter. Very pretty pictures. Okay skipping ahead.. I just want to say... I love men with the ability to talk girl and not let it affect their masculinity.
I've never liked when women go from being gorgeous with long hair to short hair because of the "summer heat". Screw that. I want you to have long hair and you will have long hair. It doesn't matter if it's for you. I don't want you looking like a guy. If I wanted to date someone that had short hair and looked like a guy, I'd date a guy. Emperor Travis has spoken and will not date you otherwise.
I prefer long hair too, though not just to please the guys. It makes me feel more feminine, especially since I'm already tall, like sports, and don't dress up much. I like the feeling of waving it around, and it's warm in the winter or in cold rooms, but just pull it back in the summer if you're hot. Even the girls who look good with short hair will look better with long hair. I've never thought a girl's looks improved by cutting it short. (sorry guys I'm taken )
I think the wifey looks better with short hair. My opinion only. Im glad that she is confident enough to wear it anyways she wants to. Shes a hairstylist so she stays up to date with hairstyles and trends. (sorry guys Im taken )
I have... and I would bet that MoBalls wife would say the same thing. Some hair is just not good long. It's not healthy if it grows to have split ends and for some people it just doesn't grow long without them. Point in fact, I have an aunt who had really really really long hair. Think trying to be Crystal Gayle long and it was just awful. Because it wasn't healthy enough the length only had split ends and all of it past about mid back looked like straw because of it. She finally cut it last summer and it is soooo much healthier looking and she looks younger. (rather than trying to look younger with hair that wasn't made for it.) Some facial structures also are much more flattering with shorter cuts. If you have a high fore head then bangs are a good idea, but if you have a shorter space there, like I do bangs look horrible. The same is true for the shape of a face. A shorter cut can bring out the shape of your jawline with its styling or by downplaying the hair to bring attention to a nice feature like your eyes. Now don't get me wrong I have spent most of my life with longer hair, mainly because of what you said, sports, ease of control, pleasing a guy... but I am much happier with a shorter cut and only occasionally wish I had the long hair again. Like I said it all depends on your hair, if it grows long and you are able to keep it healthy then by all means go for it. But a blanket statement like no women look better with shorter hair isn't true. from the sounds of it you probably have very healthy hair so I can see where you like it long. I was there for a long time. In fact (to add a short story to this very long post) the reason that I originally went from very long hair to very short hair was anger. I had spent two years with a guy and he loved my long hair, and I mean forbid me to cut it loved it. When the two of us split up I wanted to get it cut but hesitated because for the first 24 years of my life it had been waist length. After I was done and had it cut for the first time, I could see how it was just laying flat and boring when it was long. Once I had it cut, it curled up, less weight from length weighing it down, and framed my face and gained a lot of body to it. I never regretted it, or let it grow that long again. Wow sorry for the long post!
After reading this thread, I have to go drink a beer, burp and watch some football to feel more like a man again.

Add blocks of highlights and it looks like that "english sheepdog" cut popular in the 90s.
ok keeping with the hair theme - new question to throw in the mix: My natural color - a light golden brown - sort of like walnut, I suppose (IIRC) My current color - "hot tamale" from Garnier Nutrisse. Previous color - sun-bleached blonde. Amazingly enough, I look good with any of those colors. My roots have grown out, and now it's time for me to do SOMETHING. I'm debating going back to my natural color. Any advice on going back to ones natural color? Did you just let your roots grow out, or did you dye your hair a similar color to make the transition better?
I don't think there is any Ice in Iceland........ nor any Green in Greenland........ barely any Americans left in America.
Thank you, KingCheetah. The regular B-Bob is, indeed, the exact opposite of the haircut under discussion. Here I am sporting the Regular B-Bob with Mrs. B-Bob: And then there are the copycats, like Anton:
