GROSS. I hate the thing that hispanic chicks do that makes their hair look all greasy.

Nice try... but I believe I've already answered that question in at least one underwear thread here before.

Dangit ladies! Now you're making me think I might want that haircut too! Though it wouldn't be as drastic - definitely more subtle.... Maybe I'll just chicken out like I always do.

I have been married 22 years (I was 13 when I got married  ) and my advice is to have a fun party/reception and do NOT stress yourself out or break yourself over the wedding. So many couples go so far over the top these days and I'm not sure anyone has a good time. Keep yourself in mind and do what feels right for you. Your memories are what will matter (so hire a good photographer), don't make them memories of being totally stressed out.

My wedding was a bit over the top (my mother-in-law ran the show - my mother had died the year before) and I wish we had had a barbeque and a keg of beer. I think all involved would have had more fun.

Sorry to crash the party. I was just going to lurk in y'all's thread, but I had to stop you from doing this.

My wife and I did the Sandal's resort for our honeymoon 6 years ago, and it was a mistake. It was like being at a big frat\sorority party (no offense if that's your thing). Everybody was on their honeymoon and wanted to make friends, and we just wanted to hang on the beach quietly and be together. That was kind of ruined when there's a Sandal's employee with a megaphone getting everyone into some kind of group activity every 45 minutes (play volleyball, do the hula, meet and greet, etc.). The food was pretty terrible (my wife is a cook and we do like nice food), and the only nice restaurant was habachi style. I really don't want to eat in a big group on my honeymoon, especially when they do round-table introductions and attempt to make it a group activity. The cost also adds up quickly. You have to buy airfare. You have to get taxied to and from the airport. You can drink and eat at the resort, but if you want to snorkel or go to any nearby attractions, that'll be extra. It adds up quickly.

The flip-side is that there is no planning. My wife and I usually do a lot of logistic work for our overseas travel, and we wanted something easy. Wedding planning sucks, and we were drained of energy by the time we booked the package.

We would have been a lot better off hanging on the beach in Portugal or renting a place in Tuscany for a week. It would have been take as little work, probably been about the same price, and we would have had a lot more fun.

If you do go this route, look at some of the other vendors (other than Sandal's).

BTW I second <B>GlassHalfFull</B>'s advice. Keep it simple, have fun with the people you love, and make sure you make it your day (not what someone else wants you to do).

I got my hair cut like this in April. I had medium length hair before. I was pretty scared (I have a round face too) but it turned out pretty awesome. I got the front (the longest part) to my chin and angled shorter in the back. I will look and see if I have any pictures of it to send to you.

If you want a bob, just get on What Not to Wear and have this guy do it. I think that's the only hair style he knows.

This site seems to have good examples of facial structures and haircuts: http://www.hairstylesadvisor.com/

I think you need to get your hair layered in some form or fashion. It gives thick hair direction and shape.

Ditto that on Sandals - pretty awful for us too. We were in St Lucia. We still joke about the food today.

eeek... I am crossing my fingers that she made a typo and it was supposed to be "18"... (on the other hand, maybe that's just what she told her husband she was :D )

About the subject: I think that inverted bob looks weird. Several months ago a girl I know got her long, pretty hair chopped into one; everyone was like "we love your haircut" and I was thinking it looked terrible, weird and choppy. Of course, we all have our opinions. It's a trend. IMO, five years ago everyone would have said "wtf", and five years from now everyone will say "wtf", and it's just hot right now, later to be featured on "VH1's I Love 2008"....

If it makes you ladies feel great and you like the looks of it, then by all means go for it. I wish women weren't so uptight about thinking they have to have the "right" style for their face shape or hair type. We need to do what pleases us instead of other people, and if it makes us feel good, then that will shine through more than any external makeover.

I have long, thick hair, fairly straight, and I need to get 2 or 3 inches chopped off just for the dead ends, and probably no one will even notice. Conventional wisdom says I should have medium length hair only with my face type, and some layering, but I like it longer. It's actually not much work because I keep it either down or in a ponytail, nothing else. I couldn't stand to spend 20-30 minutes on my hair every day.

As far as the age thing goes, you will notice the  in my original post. Just typing 22 yrs of marriage makes me feel old. Either that or I am Tammy Wynette.

I have never got why women have to wear the "in" color or style. Wear what suits you and your personaltiy.

Hey, I'm a guy, but I'm secure enough in my manhood that I can talk weddings. Heck it's been almost 16 years and I even remember the name of our silver pattern.

Mrs. rimrocker and I had a beach wedding at the Methodist Chapel in Duck, NC. We paid for three beach houses... one for her family, one for mine, and one for us and our wedding party... everyone else was on their own. The wedding was simple and inexpensive, but we all had a good time. Mrs. rimrocker had a $350 dollar ankle-length dress that had a removable skirt with a miniskirt under it. She looked good for the wedding and with the outer skirt removed was smoking at the reception. (It sounds trashy, but it wasn't. ) We bought cheap, simple rings (which I, miraculously, have not yet lost), but paid a bit for a harpist to play at the ceremony.

We then went on a two week honeymoon to Utah where we hiked and mountain-biked Canyonlands National Park and rafted Cataract Canyon. It was great.

Keep in mind that weddings are big business and people will try to sell you all kinds of crap you don't need. Exorbitant weddings are no guarantee of a successful marriage.

Keep it simple and just know that at some point you're both going to be stressed out by the process. It's then you have to look at each other, laugh about it, and get away for awhile.

    Good luck to all.
