I agree that he probably isn't enough to get us over the hump either, but I will say it sure would have been nice to have a quick, dangerous player like him in that Utah series. Whenever Juwan's jumpers were drilling the front of the rim and Luther wasn't drilling anything, a player capable of creating his own shot sure would have been useful.

Ohhhhh well, we got him now. Time to hit the fast forward button until we reach NBA Draft.........

I don't remember the Mike James in Detroit. If he's the MJ who played 1/2 a season for us in 04/05 I'll be happy. That fiery "take no prisoners" guy came in with something to prove, played hard every game, kept his trap shut, tried his best to fit in, and left it out on the floor every night. I don't want the chattery stat hog of Toronto who was playing for a contract and who's teammates and fans couldn't wait for him to leave town or the moping jerk of Minnesota who pouted all season after KG and Wittman told him to shut up after he started whining to the press after every game.

Like I said, for Minny, the MJ trade was addition by subtraction. I hope Mr. Flippin' Weirdo doesn't revert to form here and become a sideshow. I want a player who loves team goals more than his own alternate reality.

On SF, I couldn't disagree with you more. Believe it or not, I'd rather take a chance on MJ. Hopefully we still don't have our starting PG and MJ will end up being a backup. He's an ideal 6th/7th man who can give you offense and attitude off the bench. Let's hope it all works out.

Steve would do anything to be back here. He's also twice the player James is. He just is miserable.

I wonder if MJ could get along well with Tmac. I think Tmac werent be happy when JUwan is traded for MJ. But I believe they have talked to him about this. Hope the team can be harmonious next season.

Well, would MJ be content to be on the bench? I don't think so. It is just the same with Rafer. I dont think it's proper to let MJ start and Rafer sit on the bench. if it's the opposite, MJ may again be unsatisfied. That's the problem. Trading Rafer? Then the PG of rockets is not better than last season. So I'm looking forward to Morey's next step.

Don't want to derail the topic too much but certainly SF is more talented than MJ. The problem is (I think) SF would have a bigger problem accepting a 4th place role on this team than MJ because he thinks so highly of himself as a player. Also, I assume you watched more Knicks games that I did. So you must admit that even when SF's shot was on and he scored well, he still commits the very same stupid TOs that he did as a Rocket. The games he didn't score well were pretty awful. In all these years, he still hasn't learned to play within himself and far too often makes plays that just dumbfound everybody. Zeke gave him a shot but ran out of patience. Whoever signs SF will do the exact same thing because that's his career story. The difference is now he's less athletic and still doesn't shoot that well.

If I thought SF had grown up as a player, I'd be in favor of bringing him back. He hasn't and is still the same guy with the same faults, but with less upside than before. I don't care how bad he wants to come back. We can't afford to have that kind of frustration at PG. I want us to bring in another player to start in front of MJ.

Steve is completely miserable and has lost a lot of his desire. i think bringing him back here would change things. He wouldn't be a 4th option he would be a third. You comment is what worries me about James. If he continues to play with that attitude then we got worse because even though Juwan was not the answer he was a leader and good team guy. I'm betting he doesn't. I think he knows better

Mike James is a lot like a less talented but more controlled and better shooting/decision making Steve Francis (not that James is the most controlled or decision making player--but it is relative to Francis). Mike James is a better fit basketball wise for this team. Unless Luther Head or Alston is moved there is no room for Francis on this team even if he is waved. We would make better use of our MLE for a forward.

Signing Mike James is kinda like worrying Bonzi might come back for the second year of his deal... it SHOULD be a good thing, but kinda makes you worry you're gonna be pissed at him all season.

James the player? Good stuff... he has skills we need. James the Personality? I don't know, seems he's a me first guy, and that isn't gonna be what we need. I've always been one to say that I like his game, but not sure I like the idea of his attitude in our locker room.

As many said before, it doesn't matter... he's a rocket now, and I hope he proves to everyone just how much of a benefit he can be to our team... but I won't pretend that I've forgotten how he acted before he went to minnesota, and how he acted once he got there and things didn't go his way. Let's hope he knows all this, and wants to shine here. I think he can. The question is, will he?

The 'beauty of all this is, if Rafer stays, and things don't go perfectly for the team, we can look forward to a barrage of hatethreads regarding BOTH of them. Sweet. Throw in last Arthur Bonzirelli and you've got yourself a sitcom. Let's hope the teams improves and plays to the potential we know they have, or get ready to watch them go sharkjumping on waterskis by season's end.
