    Simply amazing.

Palin represents the great march backwards in human progress, IMO.

In a very short span, she sliced through the special interests controlling the fate of Alaska. She affected real change -- effective change -- in a shorter span than anyone could have imagined. Will Obama effect such positive change in D.C in such a short time? I doubt it -- even IF he tries after his election, the decades upon decades of encrusted, self-perpetuating layers of federal corruption will be difficult to scrape away.

However, Sarah is a mom with a broom to sweep them out the corrupt and a mop to swab the decks clean. Go Sarah! Go Sarah! Go Sarah!

I guess sexism is fine as long as you're saying something positive?

I didn't say it was an Obama race. The thread was started to find out why people support Palin.

It isn't her opponents that are being unfair. If Palin isn't ready then don't nominate her as VP. If she's nominated as VP then she ought to be ready to answer some questions.

Of course that means he voted on the issues the same rate as other senators and voted on the issues more than 95% of the time.

The Present vote is stupid dig that doesn't amount to anything. It is par for the course.

    No kidding.

So tired of hearing this crap.

What 527 is after her? Who got paid off?

    Smear campaign?

You mean the press unearthing truths about her and her family? Welcome to the -same- scrutiny that every single politician that every lived has had to go through.

Your questions are fine. And I will answer them, though you never answered why you support her which was the point of this thread.

Do you call it abuse of ear marks to be in favor of the bridge to nowhere, until it catches on and becomes unpopular but then she's against it, but decides to keep the money anyway?

The librarian stood her ground and didn't allow Palin to ban books. Palin wanted to ban them. Palin then wanted the librarian fired, but changed course when the town came to the librarian's support.

In SCIENCE class creationism is not an alternative to evolution. It is not science in the slightest. It has ZERO TO DO WITH SCIENCE. To allow class time to be wasted discussing something as an alternative to science that isn't science is poor education. Science class is not the place to set rules for giving credence to everyone's views. That isn't what science is. Science is where they talk about evidence gathered through the scientific method. I'm a teacher and I know that lessons need to be focused, and directed. If a child starts talking about creationism, the teacher needs to tell the child that this is a science lesson, and that if he has any questions about that he could ask his parents or seek answers from whichever religious leaders he wishes to address. Then the discussion on creationism should end. Palin is wrong and ignorant to suggest that if somebody brings it up it should be allowed to be discussed in science class.

Obama's legislation? The Coburn/Obama transparency act for one. Legislation in Illinois state senate requiring interrogations to be videotaped. Senate legislation adding weapons with is extensions to the Nunn-Lugar act. They were co-sponsored with Richard Lugar. There's the secure AMerica and orderly immigration act. The secure fence act. Obama sponsored an amendment to the SCHIP program to make sure employment of family members taking care of wounded soldiers was extended for a year. He introduced the Honest Leadership and Open Government act.

I've listed all those before. Just because the GOP lies about him not having accomplished any legislation in the Senate doesn't make it true.

Now, that's the last time I hope this thread will be derailed. It isn't about Obama.

The question is, why do you support Palin?

Dude, are you dense? You said this.

That's like me saying that Barack Obama will eat his way through the Chicken Fried corruption in Washington, and wash away oppression with a flood of Grape Kool-Aid flavored justice.

It's sad that there are no real republican conservatives that know why they are supporting her and McCain except that she is now a star that they love. Saying that you will vote for her only because of guns, or because she read a speech well speaks of real political bias and ignorance, sorry if that offends some of you.

I think some of the real supporters are just happy to have something to vote for other than McCain over having to vote for a black candidate. This stinks of a taste of racism to me. Call it playing the race card, but it's either reverse racism or plan out sexism, take your pick.

Anyone saying that they are voting for her as a maverick or agent of change is simply ignoring her record. To compare her popularity to Obama's is a joke because he earned his over time. She has been on the seen in a week, but those who hate Obama are trying to make her as popular out of spite, not because they know her and like her policies. Most of them didn't even know her last week.

And for those of you that say black people do the same for Obama, bullcrap...at the beginning of the primaries/caucauses, he had less than 50% of the black vote. Some were even saying he wasn't black enough. So even black people were not stupid or bias enough to all just support him because he is black like republicans are doing just because she is a woman with 5 kids, who hunts and eats moose burgers; ridiculous. Obama had to earn the votes of blacks as well as all that voted for him by people getting to know him. Sarah is getting her support just out of opposition in contrast to people knowing where she stands on a host of issues...not to mention her record.

Nope. I would have used a humorous lawyer analogy with Obama. I would never have thought of yours.

I thank you for at least answering the question on why you support her. B-Bob talked about the only two other reasons people have given for supporting her.

It is amazing that all the people praising her can't really say why. I hope the public puts more thoughts into their vote than this.

Even if we disagree about her, I thank you for at least answering the question. Now, allow me to disagree with your rationale behind your support(you knew that was coming.)

She didn't sweep out the corruption but is being investigated for corruption and abuse of power herself. She has tried to hamper and slow the investigation until after the election as well.

She didn't wipe out special interests in Alaska. She hired lobbyists to make it its own special interest. The amount of Fed funds given to Alaska is the largest per capita.
