I think texas is closer than in past years but I still believe mccain will take the state. I will still be voting for obama in texas.
funnily enough, alot of the more active liberals in here are not living in Texas. FBlade is in Cali rimrocker in Oregon mcmark in NY Batman...who knows right now...Its tough to keep up with where he is living, but I doubt he would follow your advice even if he was voting in Texas this year. Deckard and Dak...ok, got me there...they are both in Austin those are just the ones I know of...I'm sure there are more.
Weird seeing me called a liberal....I was in College republicans been one almost my entire life but do think it is good for the country to swing back and forth....to keep balance. I can not stand the hypocrisy in the Republican party, they cater to the extreme right, and I am more inclined to be socially moderate and fiscally concervative. I miss the old smaller government, less intrusion republican party...now it is all about bigger government, and intrusive laws that trample the constitution. I think it is time for the Federalist party to rise again....I just can't see joining the Whig party. As for the topic, I think that the republicans were scared and looking for someone ANYONE to energize them...Palin has done that, but I believe as she is vetted she will fall apart.....or at least her record will. DD
for the purposes of *this* discussion, you are currently a very active supporter of Obama in this forum, so you got listed as one in my response to his silly assertion that folks shouldnt vote cause it wont count. As a independent, maybe I should never worry about voting ever just because I live in a Red state? Afterall, no matter which third party candidate I support, they dont have a chance and its just a waste of my vote...right? I consider it a formal indicator of my disgust with the other two groups of power brokers.
I meant that at least partially in jest as I took your response to be at least partially in jest, or a humorous way to put your thoughts. But it did raise a serious question to you then. Is it through no qualifications of her own that you support her?
Uh, don't get carried away now just because he went on O'Reilly's show. When he does Hannity and Limbaugh THEN he's willing to give interviews. Of course he has no problem doing interviews from the softball throwing MSNBC and CNN. Palin will do her interviews. Let her get up to speed. Besides, won't the debate be better than any interview anyway? And why compare the Palin to Obama anyway?
Keep on moving those goal posts......at least Obama does interviews.... Palin.....uh.....is sequestered. DD
It's not like Biden has been all over the place lately. Oh wait, nobody cares about him anyway. Why do you keep comparing Obama to Palin? Isn't he running against McCain (and he does interviews).
Because you said Obama doesn't do interviews, you are the one saying that Obama doing O'reily doesn't count, and he needs to do Rush etc...that is what I am talking about moving the goal posts. Which is a joke....Rush is not a journalist he is an entertainer, and a drug addict. As for Palin, I look forward to seeing how she handles questions, as a former sportscaster, I am sure she will do fine, what I am curious about is whether she keeps her hard line anti abortion stance even in the case of rape or incest....or will she flip flop to help the campaign? Because while some of what she does resonates with a lot of people...cutting taxes, shrinking government etc.....Pro Choice is a significant issue and one in which she is of a very minority opinion. DD
I re-read what I posted and you are correct, I made it sound like Obama doesn't do interviews when he actually does. O'Reilly is the first I can think of who actually asked tough questions. He won't do Rush, most don't, but I would like to see him go up against Hannity. Like I've said, I think we'll see the best/worst of the candidates at the debates and they can't get here soon enough.
nobody is comparing anybody. the fact is, palin is making all these claims about herself and what she would do to washington and how she's a pure "reformer" and doesn't back down to anybody. so when you make those bold claims, you better back it up. biden has been on the sunday shows thousands of time (hell, he's been in washington for 30 years). obama regularly gets interviewed. mccain does too. we all now what they have to say. but now palin comes out of nowhere and proclaims herself as the "pure reformer." well, i wanna know what she means by that b/c her record apparently doesn't show it.
so there will be only ONE vice presidential debate. you're ok with her being 2nd in command of america by making one solo appearance in front of america. btw, it's been known that candidates know 80-85% of the questions/topics asked in debates (very easy to prepare for).
it actually is. nobody talks about mccain anymore (the crowds that go out to see the mccain-palin campaign usually chants sarah's name). so officially, palin is controlling the republican side of things.
I cannot understand the logic in using debates to judge candidates. In the primaries when there are 15-20 of them, maybe. But to judge Palin on her sole debate performance is silly.
