Chuck Hagel is a Republican I would vote for. "The Iraq war should not be debated in the United States on a partisan political platform," the Nebraska senator remarked. "This debases our country, trivializes the seriousness of war and cheapens the service and sacrifices of our men and women in uniform. War is not a Republican or Democrat issue. The casualties of war are from both parties. The Bush Administration must understand that each American has a right to question our policies in Iraq and should not be demonized for disagreeing with them. Suggesting that to challenge or criticize policy is undermining and hurting our troops is not democracy nor what this country has stood for, for over 200 years. The Democrats have an obligation to challenge in a serious and responsible manner, offering solutions and alternatives to the Administration’s policies." http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=104566
Even McCain to some extent is pro-choice. His stance has been that abortion should be illegal except in cases in which the mother's health is threatened, and incest/rape etc.. Also, he's on record as saying that overturning Roe v. Wade would be a gigantic blunder that would ruin lives of women who need abortions because of extenuating circumstances. This position isn't exactly pro-choice but its enough to probably anger many in the more conservative/religious right section of the Republican Party.
If Hillary runs, against mccain/rudy, feels dirty to say it, but I'll be voting for the republicans. However, I don't think the Reds will push a moderate ballot unless they lose major ground in the 2006 elections. Unless the senate turns blue, I wouldn't be surprised if Jeb Bush and Condi ran. And if Condi runs, damn is this forum going to look ugly with the far right people consistently accusing non-righties of being against her because of race.
Republican Senator Chuck Hagel: "Things aren't getting better; they're getting worse. The White House is completely disconnected from reality. It's like they're just making it up as they go along. The reality is that we're losing in Iraq." http://www.usnews.com/usnews/news/articles/050627/27bush.htm Looks like he agrees with Dean... hmm.
I'm pulling for a real race- Republican Ticket- Mel Gibson/ Dr. Phil vs. Democrat Ticket- Bono/ Oprah Wouldn't that be more fun? The whole campaign could be a 'reality' show. Think of the campaign platforms- save the family vs. save the world. I googled a list of well know Republicans and found this- Gary Cherone Tom Clancy Dick Clark Mary Higgins Clark Roger Clemens Van Cliburn Mike Connors Robert Conrad Alice Cooper Anderson Cooper Kevin Costner Catherine Coulter Bob Cousy Ben Crenshaw Tony Danza Robert Davi Doris Day Rick Dees Bo Derek Destiny's Child Pat DiNizio Mike Ditka Lou Dobbs Shannon Doherty Fred Dryer Robert Duvall Leslie Easterbrook Clint Eastwood Dennis Eckersley John Elway Sara Evans Chad Everett Chris Evert Todd Brendan Fahey Jamie Farr Brett Favre Bob Feller Rollie Fingers Carlton Fisk Glenn Ford Peter Ford Whitey Ford Milos Forman Julie Foudy Jeff Foxworthy Dennis Franz William Friedkin Hayden Fry Vincent Gallo John Gavin Crystal Gayle Sarah Michelle Gellar Joe Gibbs Mel Gibson Frank Gifford Melissa Gilbert Tom Glavine Dana Glover Fred Grandy Kelsey Grammer Amy Grant Lee Greenwood Wayne Gretzky Merv Griffin Sammy Hagar Merle Haggard George Hamilton Angie Harmon Franco Harris Elisabeth Hasselbeck John Havlicek Patricia Heaton Charlton Heston Catherine Hicks Hal Holbrook Lou Holtz Dennis Hopper Ron Howard Rachel Hunter Kathy Ireland Bo Jackson Jonathan Jackson Derek Jeter Magic Johnson Nicole Johnson, former Miss America Deacon Jones Dean Jones James Earl Jones Shirley Jones Jackie Joyner-Kersee Naomi Judd Jim Kelly Jack Kemp Jeff Kent Chaka Khan Kid Rock Harmon Killebrew Don King Bobby Knight Kim Komando Yaphet Kotto Nick Lachey Cheryl Ladd Steve Largent Tommy Lasorda Mario Lemieux Marv Levy Rush Limbaugh Heather Locklear Lyle Lovett Rob Lowe David Lynch Audra Lynn Loretta Lynn Norm MacDonald John Malkovich Karl Malone Barbara Mandrell Dan Marino Wynton Marsalis Jackie Mason Johnny Mathis Don Mattingly Martina McBride Matthew McConaughey Reba McEntire Dr. Phil McGraw Mark McGwire Gerald McRaney Meat Loaf Mark Messier Al Michaels Phil Mickelson Cheryl Miller Dennis Miller Larry Miller Yvette Mimieux Ricardo Montalban Joe Montana Michael Moriarty Van Morrison Jim Nabors Jim Nantz Wayne Newton Jack Nicklaus Leslie Nielsen Greg Norman Chuck Norris Chris Nowinski Ted Nugent Tom Osborne Marie Osmond Arnold Palmer Fess Parker Joe Paterno Richard Petty Digger Phelps Regis Philbin Mike Piazza Rick Pitino Sara Michelle Gellar might be a good running mate
Based on your list and some quick archived Nielsen ratings research, I believe the Republicans best bet in 2008 will be a ticket comprised of Jim Nabors & Tony Danza.
I know that some of that list aren't actually republicans. That may be a list of people who have publically supported Republican candidates at one time or another, but I know at least two of them are definitely not Republicans.
Look at all these moderate republicans. Rudy is Pro choice as someone else pointed out. Have people not been paying attention to who runs the Rep. party? Bush couldn't get a court nominee through because his party couldn't take his word for it that she was pro-choice. McCain is a moderate. not a chance in hell. I do think that ticket would win if they could get through the primary, but I don't see how such a ticket would happen. Lieberman cost Gore the election because many parts of the country just couldn't vote for a Jew. Sad but true.
Not only is he pro choice, he's also pro gay rights. And an adulterer. All people really know about him is 911. Once they find out about his past, the wingnuts won't have anything to do with him.
Yeah- the list probably came from something like obscure contribution records- you get all kind of stuff when googling.
I doubt that anyone on the religious side has a problem with incest/rape situations. As for the mother's life being threatened, that might be a problem, but I cant see it being large enough of a pothole. We need someone like McCain with his credibility and honesty to help us forget the highest spending administration in history.
