I was a little surprised at the poll because I don't think the situation is too bad for Muslims in America here to warrant a poll like this, speaking generally. Sure, I've gotten a couple insults but I wouldn't consider it something that I should legitimately have fear for. Houston's a pretty laid back and diverse city so I don't see too much of a problem here. There have been incidents on mosques here but you can say there have incidents on any race or group of people stemming from hate so I don't see much difference.

I think many Muslims do play the self-victim card a lot which I hate and they shouldn't but there's nothing really to be done about that. I was born and raised here and throughout my public school years I haven't had many issues with hate towards me besides a couple ignorant assholes but I'm sure those exist for other races or groups of people.

I notice a certain correlation between the level of fanatism for the religion displayed in posts here and the purported fear for safety (the zealots seem to play the victim card more, too).

    Eeh whatever happens happens.

Just gotta trust in God. Whatever your destiny is, it is. Nothing you could really do about it. I can't be walking around afraid of everything.

I could be a victim of a hate crime, sure. But I could also get hit by a bus. Regardless, my goal is to be the best person I can be.

Don't really think about it. Been living in the greater Houston area for a year and I have never ran into anybody who is blatantly racist.

    It's situational imo.

A couple of months ago it I would have said no. But recently (not sure if you heard http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/07/05/nasa-chief-frontier-better-relations-muslims/), Faux Noise and blogs had a bunch of headlines about how the new NASA administrator is turning NASA over to Muslims.

I see a small difference in how some react towards me now that you can +1 (more like x10) on it with the whole NY Mosque issue. It's gotten to the point where the guy across my cubicle makes anti-Muslim comments outloud and watches ultra right-wing shows with volume turned up always bashing Muslims. He's one of those nuts that believe the new world order and illuminati trying to take over the U.S. His new thing is that those groups are now working with some secret Muslim bloc and Obama to tear America down. He has some other workers here that visit him to talk about this downfall.

What pushed me to vote yes is the fact that he's being laid off and a coworker that is a great friend of mine keeps joking with me about how I should take some vacation time before the big lay off date. We always have a laugh about it but I'm starting to think about it more and more lol.

Maybe I should get him a snickers bar? :p

I noticed a correlation between groups concerned with their safety and groups actually being attacked.

This is at least the third time this single attack by a single crazy guy has been posted in one of the first 5 threads from the top of this forum. If someone decided to post every single attack by Islamists that happens every day three times, Clutch would have to buy new servers just for that.

Funny to see you saying zealots claiming victimhood ("boohoo, if I don't make this cartoon, my freedom of speech is being taken away!") and then complain about people repeating things ("I'm going to post about evil Islam in every thread, even if it has nothing to do with Islam! I should even fit in Mathloom's response to the cartoonists!"). Sometimes, mirrors are helpful.

Still doesnt negate the fact that there are attacks that are happening, and there are victims, and that every single muslim fits the profile that the attacker was looking for.

There is a difference between repeatedly discussing variants of certain issues and re-posting a news article about the same incident several times. Sorry to see that understanding that apparently is too much of an intellectual challenge for you.

Whats up with you questioning everyone's intelligence? You havn't shown yourself to be superior to anyone, posting about having a mba or phd does not stand for crap on the internet...kinda like how 30% of this board makes more than $200,000+....I guess you have your fans on here that keep you doing what you do, since this rep feature was added you've been on a roll with Muslim bashing, keep it up.

    1) I don't bash Muslims.
    2) Not sure what an MBA or Ph.D. or whatever has to do with anything?
    3) Regarding the rep, I got a lot more for some silly photoshop I made (with very limited skills) than for any post I made in the D&D (if that makes you feel better ;))

P.S.: You still have time to apologize for that ridiculous post that said I would be happy if someone went and killed Muslims. That was just way out of line. I do not necessarily question your intelligence on that one, but certainly your judgment.

Nope I haven't felt any need to fear for my safety due to my religion, everything has been just fine here. However, there has been an attempted robbery (or I at least think so) at my house earlier but I don't think it was hate related.

If I were the only one who has stated this then I would take it back.

I don't think you would like to see their extermination. Not yet at least  ;)
