Boy : Would you please direct me to threads where there are people talking about "beating little afghani kids with bats" and the threads that are"glorifying rape". I think I missed those.

PS - those threads from Q8 Rocket were not about Israel's policies.

The point of my post wasn't who's right or who's wrong. It was that dude should be able to voice his opinion on the matter. Now if Clutch comes out tomorow and says the subjects off limits...great, it's all good with me. Last I checked he hasn't. So keep your don't ever post that crap again **** to yourself.

He wasn't posting his opinion on the matter, he was digging up nonsense from some hateful websites and pawning it off as factual.

But another admin has, and unless Clutch overrules him, his word is final.

Wait a minute, this sentence seems to contradict itself.

Why don't you go back and check his links. Maybe you'll figure out what's bogus about them by actually going to the sites.

    Hmmm.

In the first thread, it does not appear as if the person talking was serious about actually causing harm to a little kid(Pakastani actually), but was merely expressing frustration.

In the second thread, the author was roundly criticized by numerous people for the rape comments, and the thread was shut down.

All in all, neither thread appeared to be part of a pattern of vitriolic propoganda in a similar manner as was posted on this BBS by Q8 Rocket(though treeman and MrSpur have come close).

Well then to be fair, we should warn all members who have made hatefull posts that they have received thier final warning, not just Q8. Otherwise, how are we supposed to belive that this was fair?

Who started the thread that got closed? Did he receive his warning?

Look, I'll say it straight up...

I think that treeman quite often posts ridiculous garbage. He has said he is biased against the Arab culture and has called it barbaric. He makes no bones about his desire to see Iraq bombed and even destroyed.

It is no secret that MrSpur posts garbage propoganda on an almost daily basis that is 99.9% anti-Muslim and anti-Arab.

I hate the majority of what they both post on the subject.

    So...

if they can get away with it without me banning them, which I choose not to because it just seems stupid and reactionary, Q8 probably should be able to get away with his ridiculous bull**** without being banned. The guy lives in freakin' Kuwait. Why wouldn't he be biased?

Clutch and I cut off that anti-Muslim crap on the 11th and banned the poster who did it. Most of the bans that have happened on this board are the result of trolls wasting server space, blatant spam or just all-out idiocy. It is still pretty rare for someone to get kicked for a point of view no matter how extreme or stupid.

That having been said, I'd like to personally go on record and say to everyone, COOL IT! I am personally tired of reading propoganda tripe from both sides of the issue. If you have some personal issue with Jews, Muslims, Arabs, blacks, hippies, Christians, whatever, take that **** to a piece of crap ESPN, Yahoo or MSNBC board.

Don't waste space with bull**** that is abut as reasonable and sensible as Walt Williams for Kevin Garnett trade scenarios posted in the Rockets forum are. We seem to all be reasonably intellegent people. Let's try to keep it that way.

    Jeff --
I have to stick up for Treeman here. I've read many things posted here (obviously) in anger, and I doubt that Treeman or even myself is completely innocent. I have read where he said that he is biased against the Arab culture, and I've read where he called the Arab culture barbaric, and I must say that I agree with him. The way the Arab culture traditionally treats women and outsiders is, in my opinion, barbaric.

Imagine if Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson ruled the United States of America. We all know how homosexuals, and anyone who has any kind of sex other than in the missionary position would be completely ostracized and maybe even outlawed altogether. Thank god for the rest of us that these zealots are not in charge here.

The problem is though, in the ME zealots ARE in charge. The Mullahs and Clerics and people like Saddam Hussein and the Taliban have the people under their collective thumbs. All but the wealthiest literally have no clue as to differences throughout the world, and the wealthiest are too concerned about thier own money and power to question the traditional leaders, partly because the traditional leaders hold such power over the masses. Ignorance isn't necessarily anyone's fault, but ignorance certainly isn't right either.

There needs to be a change in the cultural leadership (both political and religious) for there to ever be any change for the betterment of countries like Afghanistan and Iraq. We must take out these evil institutions (Saddam and the Taliban) and make sure to the best of our abilities that friendly people are put in charge; people who won't rule through ignorance and fear.

Some examples of idiocy in or own country and culture:
    Salem Witch Trials
    Slavery
The current bigotry of people like Falwell and Robertson. I thank god every day that people like them aren't in charge around here.

Notice a trend? All of those things have roots in religion. As cultures progress and evolve, they change fundamentally. With that change comes acceptance of new thoughts and ideas. These cultures have not evolved due to the people in charge.

Neither Treeman or myself want to see the cultures themselves wiped out. We want the oppressive regimes holding the people under their boot changed so that the culture can change and evolve.

    Edit:
I would like to add that I think, in many ways, that the Arab culture is the polar opposite of our own. We are free in so many ways that they are not. Our culture is open, inviting, and understanding, and we have some small groups who would love to censor and gag smaller minorities. In that respect, I think their culture is completely opposite of our own: closed, censored, and uninviting. The groups over there who are open, understanding, and inviting are the minority.

Religion has bred ignorance and intolerance, much like our own did so long ago.

Haven said: q8's posts were definitely anti-semitic. I do, however, wonder how much less anti-Muslim people such as Treeman's posts really are. At times, they strike me as bigotry cloaked behind a slightly more sophisticated veneer.

    I agree.

To be consistent you should warn treeman, also. Maybe do a study of his posts. The percentage of hate posts is less with Treeman, but he has made statements just as extreme as q8 at times. However, if he and q8 don't get worse or take up an enormous percent of the board with hate posts I think it is best to just let them discredit themselves with their obvious bigotry.

I'll reread q8's posts, but I believe that he is starting to provide a bit more rationale and less hate as his posts go on.

I've just reread every post by q8 rocket. Unfortunately I have had to conclude that there is a definite double standard here. .

He was warned after PERHAPS his first post after the first post the search function brought up, which was just a detailed lengthy list of atrocities allegedly committed by Jews in Palestine. This warning was not fair at all!

As Darorocket did a couple of times, a similar lenthy list of palestininan abuses can be pasted also. This is the best response. Boring yet effective.

The accuracy of each incident would of course be questionable.

He copied a large picture of a woman in Arab Headgear being pulled at by an Israeli young woman and being kicked at by a young boy. THIS PICTURE WAS EITHER ON THE FRONT PAGE OR THE FRONT OF A SECTION OF SECTION OF THE USA TODAY IN THE LAST MONTH. I saw the hard copy myself. The article went on to list unsavory acts by Jewish settlers against Arabs. Any one who wishes to challenge me on this is welcome. Being ineffective Q8 should have listed his source to enhance his credibility.

He linked to one proagandistic objectionable and not very effective video about going to Israel to enjoy killing. Interesting from the point of view of how stupid it was if it was meant to appeal to the average English speaker.

HE MAKES IT VERY CLEAR IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS THAT HE BELIEVES ALL JEWS SHOULD LEAVE PALESTINE. A postion I disagree with, but certainly permissable freedom of speech. Obviously this pisses some people off extremely.

Many of his posts are relatively innocuous. Then an Arab history of Jerusalem, somewhat slanted but not vicious or particularly anti-semitic.

Then we have the famous post at hand "How long will justice be muted? Stupid, unsupported charges, Israelis poisoning chocolate for Palestinina kids. DEliberately giving them aids etc. Enraging if you abgsolutely believe Israelis could never commit such atrocities never in a million years, but not anit-semitic per se. Treeman's remarks in that thread were just as objectionable.

Strange things have happened in pretty good countries. The US for instance deliberately let syphillis I believe be untreated among African Americans for 40 yrs as an experiment in Tuskeegee that lasted unitl the 1972.

Note I tend to strongly disbelieve the poisoned chocolate and other charges. Iif they did occur I would suspect they were the deeds of an individual Jewish extremists.

His english is not that good and his statements come off blunt but they should not be considered beyond the pale for what he has done to date.

Who cares about a double standard. It is a BBS, it is not the free press.

If the owners or operaters of this great BBS don't like what you post, or find it offensive to the masses, they can get rid of you.

    Simple, really.

This site costs money to run, and the owners can run it how they chose.

You want free speech? Go stand on a soapbox.
