So you are talking to a buddy, who is a Knicks fan, and he goes "Those 2 Rockets chips shouldn't even count, Mike was out of the league" Its frustrating. How does one respond to that?
That the NBA is about match ups...and historically, we used to kick the Bulls @rse when MJ was in the team. Its a sad thing that we never had an opportunity to play together during the Finals.
Michael Jordan was playing in 1994/1995 Michael Jordan was also out of the league in every other year he didn't play in the league. The Knicks are going on 35+ years now of being one of the most mismanaged well positioned teams in sports history. All those people. That potential fanbase. The money from tv deals, whatever. Players wanting to play in NY. And what you get is the Knicks. Sour grapes.
Easy, tell him its not the Rox's fault that MJ quit on bball, and that he actually played in 95 but didn't even make it to the finals.
Thats pretty much it. A Knicks fan of all people, has nothing to say since the Rockets beat them to get the title. Any other fan from another team that brings it up you can alway say that Vernon Maxwell defending Michael Jordan better than any other player in the league that year. Mario Elie was also an elite defensive player who would have given the Rockets more of a physical body to put on Jordan. Those two guys would have given him fits. Also the Bulls would have no answer to Hakeem in all honesty. Luc Longley, and Bill Cartwright would not have an answer for Hakeem. If he destroyed Patrick Ewing that bad in the finals (who was a top 3 defensive Center in the league) just imagine what he would have do to the Bulls front line.
Just the same way I am not going to explain it to you again on how Michael played in the second year.
Why even entertain that argument? If it was easy to win without MJ, then NY would have won it or made it to the finals bck to back. The point should be the rockets were better than the knicks both years.
Your friend is being a troll. Stern kept the Bulls out for a reason. The Rockets were unstoppable. Even Michael himself admitted his fear of the Rockets and all of their greatness.
Charles Barkley once said the Rox titles shouldn't count because Mike wasn't there. That was when I decided Charles is a troll.
^^^^ This Yeah, jsmee2000 is right. The NBA is about matchups. We were something like 14-6 over the Bulls during MJ's stretch. Ohhh, if it wasn't for Seattle....... Here's a question...How many times would the Bulls have made it out of the West during their run?
"So none of the titles after Jordan count?" People act like Jordan was the only dominant player back then.
Does that mean that all the teams that won the title before MJ entered the league and after he retired their title doesn't count either since MJ didn't play??
although i was born in '96, even i know, that Michael admitted his fear of the Rockets. Rockets were the only team that actually challenged the Bulls, and in Hakeem vs Michael matchups, Hakeem won more. look it up. http://www.basketball-reference.com...quest=1&p1=olajuha01&p2=jordami01#stats::none
