I'm on Medicare plus supplemental because my late wife taught 20 years in Texas. $143 month. I burn through $20g's a year in health care costs but out of pocket is $10 a visit or procedure. I get great healthcare.
You have any desire to pack your bags to California? Can get a great deal in house in Compton https://www.zillow.com/compton-ca/home-values/ The typical home value of homes in Compton is $474,165. This value is seasonally adjusted and only includes the middle price tier of homes. Compton home values have gone up 12.2% over the past year and Zillow predicts they will rise 9.4% in the next year.
My house is worth 3 times what I paid for it in 1991. I'm sorry kids, I wish it were the same for you.
Nah dude. We millennials got it better. We got smart phones and flat screen tvs. That's what boomers tell me though. I mean who needs homeownership when you got a smart phone.
Yeah, but it's like the payday loan version of insurance to me. You (hopefully) wouldn't buy a house using pay day loan, you probably wouldn't want to use Cobra to be a long-term health care solution.
Hate to break it to you, but I think it is clear that despite frequent church going you can make a good argument that Texas is the most selfish state in the country. Pretty close to the middle in income per capita and always down there with 5 or so of the poorest states LA, MS, Al, Ark, SC in any sort of health or income support measures.
Fun fact, if you say Tracy McGrady 3 times while looking into the mirror Tinman shows up and tells you the importance of being a 99er. Meanwhile, his life is falling apart because he is a wanker who thinks trolling is considered a job.
Good post! That is a key stat. One you won’t hear Cornyn or Cruz or Abbott or Patrick talk about. They’re too busy spinning the conversation about healthcare off into another direction. Any direction except how it works, or rather doesn’t work, in Texas. They will borrow some McCarthy era language about Leftists, Socialists . . . hell, I’ve even heard “Communist” tossed around, laughingly outdated, and blame the healthcare crisis in Texas on “them.” The mythical “them.” “Them” actually being the aforementioned Texas Republican politicians and their buddies currently in control of the Senate and the White House. They actually don’t give a damn about the average Texan’s health insurance coverage. What they care about are the millions the insurance industry’s political action committees (PACS) give them and the Republican Party in campaign contributions. To be fair, those PACS give donations to Democratic politicians as well, but the GOP butters their bread. In my humble opinion. Aren’t defined benefits the cat’s pajamas?
Right now, I'd love to have my platinum like Cobra plan i was paying $1400/ month for rather than my bronze marketplace plan i pay $1900+/ month for.
brother you roll with BCBS, United Healthcare or Aetna I've been rolling with Aetna, but United Healthcare ain't bad
I think you need to check out home prices in DFW. Is not quite LA bad, but it’s really tough to get anything decent under 350k for 1800 sq feet +. And our big natural weekend getaway is the Trinity river or maybe lake Lewisville. Not the Pacific Ocean. So yeah in theory I probably would pay an extra couple hundred bucks a month to live 30 minutes from some of the most consistent surf in the world 12 months a year if we had good jobs.
