Actually, if any of yall has noticed that using this Chapellism' on Reece Gaines' name works out quite well. Im REECE GAINES biatch, enjoy yourselves.... its a celebration biatchesssssss
A pack of Nachos, seriously? If Lue were 3 inches taller, we'd all be content with him as a starter and would actually be looking for a back up.
I hesitate to post this here because on all the inane posts already but...Mike James has been in talks with the Rockets. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/sports/content/auto/epaper/editions/saturday/sports_048ff8f6417d32940086.html James interested in returning to Heat By Chris Perkins, Palm Beach Post Staff Writer Saturday, July 17, 2004 MIAMI -- Former Heat point guard Mike James is the latest NBA player to say he'd love to play for Miami and alongside Shaquille O'Neal. "We're talking," said James, who recently won a title with the Detroit Pistons. "My agent is talking to (Heat General Manager) Randy Pfund and also coach Riles (Heat President Pat Riley). "It's a lot of interest. I would love to be back in Miami." The problem is, the interest might not be there from the Heat. James, who played for the Heat for two seasons (2001-03), is a restricted free agent. The Heat likely doesn't want to bid restricted free agents (Miami would be frozen from bidding on other free agents for up to 15 days while Detroit decides if it will match the offer sheet), and Riley said the team already has zeroed in on the point guard it wants. James said he doesn't think that's him right now. Detroit has said it probably wouldn't match a multiyear offer for James, which might have been what launched James into a claim of not getting respect around the league. "I see all these guys getting money," James said. "You could put my stats up against anybody. Forget about the name 'Mike James,' and just look at the stats." James averaged 9.3 points, 4.2 assists and 1.19 steals last season with Boston and Detroit. He played in 81 games and started 55, all in Boston before being dealt to the Pistons in the three-team trade that landed Detroit forward Rasheed Wallace. James said what he wants is "the multiyear (contract) and the money." But after being told Miami only has half of the $5.1 million mid-level exception, the $1.6 million exception and minimum-salary deals James said: "I was broke before I came into the NBA. Even if I sign for the $1.6 (million), that's more money than I've ever made in my life. I'll sign a one-year or whatever." James said he's had conversations with Houston, Milwaukee and the Los Angeles Lakers. "I'm only talking to teams that are contenders or willing to contend," he said. "With Shaq being in Miami, that makes Miami a contender." Nothing new: Atlanta guard Bob Sura, who said he has interest in joining the Heat and teaming with O'Neal, said he hasn't spoken with his agent in a few days and doesn't think anything is progressing with Miami. "I've been out of the loop," Sura said. "I'm just letting him do his work."
Mike James and Damon Jones are about on the same level IMO, athough Jones is a lil bigger and probably a sligthly better shooter. I like James defense better than Jones. Both are solid, yet unspectacular. I would be content with either. As long as they can take care of the ball, play solid D and hit the 3 at least 35-40% of the time, then thats all we need.
Nope, I've just got friends who listen to Mike Jones CDs non-stop. I think if the Rockets get James, Mike Jones should definately do some clips for the sound guys at the Showroom. Sure, I'd probably be the only white guy that got it, but that's okay. Speaking of League Pass, I might have to splurge next season. That or spend more time at the Tavern here in Austin. T-Mac and Yao, what a beautiful thing.
I think codell's assessment of James is accurate. I prefer him over Jones because he seems to be a harder worker and plays with energy. He is a backup and not a starter but I wouldn't mind him for 3 million for 3 years.
I kind of like James better as a fit than Jones for a few reasons... -Defense: Mike James is the shorter of the two, but my recollection of Jones is that he plays small. James uses his size and strength to his advantage. -Style of play: Jones to me seemed to be an off the dribble shooter (like Francis), which isn't as successful as guys who can spot up, especially in an offense with Yao/TMac. Jones had his most success playing with Michael Redd, a spot up shooter, and Desmond Mason, a big time athlete. The Bucks didn't have many other true penetrators or a post presence. James played well playing with a dominating wing (Paul Pierce), as well as in Detroit in which the offense was predicated on getting inside the defense for short cuts and jumpshots off the pass, plus Sheed's post play. That to me gives James a better chance of thriving on our team.
Yup. I'm going to get it again. Every year, I swear I'm not going to... not because of the money, although I wish it were cheaper, but because Time/Warner here in Austin only lets you pay it in 4 (if I remember right) installments. My wife hates seeing it on the bill! She could care less if I had just paid for it and see never saw it. But, instead, I've got to go through 4 months of, "You're paying this much for spending all your time watching the Rockets?? You already spend hours on that website, hours watching the games... hell, you plan our weekends around them, if I let you. And we have to pay for it for months!" And on and on and... you get the picture. It drives me crazy. I think this will be my 5th season with LP, and I can't wait! As far as James goes, I admit to not having seen him play much, but I like his stats. He has a decent % from downtown (going by last season's #'s), rebounds well for a PG with his minutes, averages more than a steal a game, and has a good assist to TO ratio. Here's a blurb from when he was traded to Detroit. Sorry if this has been posted... can't remember. James, 28, appeared in 55 games (all as a starter) for the Celtics this season, averaging 10.7 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.27 steals in 30.6 minutes. The third-year guard comes to Detroit with career averages of 8.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 23.8 minutes in 148 career NBA games (63 as a starter). Undrafted out of Duquesne, James played in Austria (1998-99), France (1999-00 and 2000-01) and with the Rockford Lightning of the Continental Basketball Association (2001-02) before being signed as a free agent by the Miami Heat on December 18, 2001. He was signed as a free agent by Boston on July 25, 2003. I agree with NIKEstrad. I'd pick him over Jones, and I think he would be relatively cheap, from his comments.
