Someone said that PGs don't shoot 20 times a game .... So Parker must have been playing the 2. Who was the 1?
You take whatever is in the flow of your offense. While I agree there's no hard-coded rules that prohibit a PG from shooting 20 times, there's certainly nothing wrong with a PG looking to score as a last resort. If you watched the lovely 4th period tonight (1 point from our team in a very late 6 minute span), it was certainly acceptable for Brooks to look to shoot. No one else was making anything. Ron Artest needs to learn that you can hit a larger percentage of baskets INSIDE the 3 point line. Yao missed point-blank layups/dunks, etc. Anyway, I think the only thing wrong with Aaron's shot selection was the fact that he hasn't struck a balance between running the offense and creating his own offense. He's a 2nd year guy and has been a starter for only a couple games. He'll learn. I like what I see from him. If we could replace Yao with a center who could run and was addicted to rebounds, this team would be something special in the making.
I completely agree ... I just thought it was odd that you can set a limit on the number of shots a PG should take. A good shot is a good shot even if it doesn't go in ....
I don't have any problem with a PG shooting that many shots , as long as those come as the result of the offensive flow. Brooks is a 2nd year player, he is expected to make some mistakes, let's give him the time & space to grow, dont' pick every single mistake he's making.
hehehehe on an off night for Brooks. Geez Louise. What do they think Rafer would have been doing out there?
The Blazers were playing to double Yao every time he had the ball. Brooks got good looks and had plenty of wide-open lay-ups. He'll make more of them with time. The decision-making process was perfectly fine also.
He is most effective when he stays aggressive on the offensive end and keeps pressure on the opponent's defense. I also liked when he nailed a 3 after airballing his previous 3 attempt.
