First of all, Mo T's numbers had gone progressively UP in each of his first three years (dipping in his first 40 games with the Rockets before going back up). Second, he DIDN'T take 1-2 years to adapt; he took half a season. Third, it is naive to think that a healthy Maurice Taylor is anything but an integral part of the Rockets' hopes for future success.
i wonder what mo t's injury will do to his game now, i hope he rehabited 100%. Then he would still be the man.
Well, you said it right there... Which you "failed to remember." Mo was putting up consistent 15 point first quarters for us in the second half of that season. It's your right to ignore games and the stats, but don't come back later and act like you know what you're talking about. The constant, cooooonstaaaaant Mo bashing on this board (and others) makes me want to puke. He came here for less than market value, has always been ecstatic to be here and has always done what was asked and worked hard. And all you bozos can do is say he's fat and lazy. Pay attention before you criticize. Mo hurt himself precisely because he was working so hard and he was working so hard because he cared so much about contributing to this team. You suck as a fan. And you're also a lazier fan than Mo is a player. And Yao and Griff aren't the 'immediate' future. They need Mo and Cato this year. But since we never know when we can count on Cato, they definitely need Mo. Be a fan of your team and wish him the best. He's doing his part. Do yours.
It's an error. It wasn't a Big Man Camp he was spotted at, it was a Big & Tall men's store. He was just buying some threads so he'll look good carrying Ming's luggage.
The thing that makes me respect Mo taylor is that I think he is trying to become an all-star. I remember that he started working out a lot, but every once in a while, he would want to quit. But his trainer would ask him if he wanted to be an all-star, or something like that. This makes me think he has high goals, and wishes to accomplish them. Because of this, I kind of look at his past as when he was a boy, but now he is a man and takes responsibility. Hopefully. GO MO!
While I remember that Mo T has supposedly always worked hard since joining Houston, I can't help but be suspicious. I mean, why did he have all that baby fat when he GOT here? I know playing for LA must suck... but you'd think he'd have more individual motivation. And barring anything else... players who want the max usually bother to get in shape.
I guess you could be right. But he seemed so determined. I guess only time will tell if he is an all-star, or just a regular player.(hopefully, he won't be worse than regular.)
I Just want to ask a question on Taylor. MoT is not a banger, nor a post up player. He's known for his sweet jumpers. One'd imagine that speed is more important for his type of game than bulk.So why is his weight always around 260 lbs? that's a lot of weight for a jump shooting forward, it's even more than most centers in the L. Is there any reason to justify such high playing weight? If MoT trims down to 245 lbs he'll be much better off. More speed, more rebounds, less chance of injuries... I can't figure it out except that it's the way he is.
That is a good question. I could only guess what you did, in that that's just how his body is. Maybe he's losing fat and gaining muscle this offseason, so he may be a little quicker. He also may be considered a possible C in limited mintutes, so his weight may be a good thing.(although 6'9 jumpshooting C's aren't common.)
Panda is a genius for saying that. I've been wondering the same thing for ages. If Mo T can work himself into 245lbs, he'd gaing some quickness and jump. That little touch of quickness will give him 2 or 3 more ways to get to the basket. That little extra jump might even be one more rebound a game. He needs to lose the baby fat, and tone his body. He has so much potential. It's really such a bitter/sweet thing when you have a choice between Mo taylor and Eddie Griffin. I must say. When reports came out about Mo T being overweight, I was so pissed. But after all these reports of him working it all off, I couldn't be more happy. I really like the guy's attitude, and how his game suites our style perfectly. About Cato, I'm not surprised. I knew this was coming. I know he's going to be excellent this season. It's such a blessing to have Mo T and Cato to efase Ming and Griffin into their future star roles.
Maybe I'm a bit hard on MO TAY HOWEVER it is not where near the LET'S TRADE KT CROWD KT works harder KT constantly improving KT is cheaper KT gives us the same if not more than Mo Tay I think KT has AS MUCH UPSIDE beause he works his ass off!!! Only thing The Mo Tay crowd sees is the CATO QUALITY [no not Cato's laziness] but . . OH MO HAS A PF BODY . . . HE GOT POTENTIAL!!!!! F*CK POTENTIAL . . . be like KT PUT IT ON THE COURT!! What Mo Tay is putting on the court. . is no more than what KT has put on the court. Mo Tay may have the body but KT has the heart!!!!!!!! Mo Tay, Cato, and a bunch of other NBAers could learn alot from the KTs and CHUCKIE BROWNs of the world. Rocket River I know i do. . . .
Get off man, get off... KT works harder...yes KT constantly improving...I'm not going to try and convince you he's near his maximum but I believe he is pretty close. Was his maximum good? Yes for a back-up it'd be nice, but you don't think he would want as much money as Mo is getting to resign later on? I don't think KT gives us the same if not more as Mo. We can argue about it all we want, but if the Rockets are "supposedly trading one by January" then we'll have half the season to see which one truly is better. Mo's been working hard in the offseason and supposedly abusing KT. So we'll see... I think KT is a good player and has high trade-value, but the Rockets aren't made up on which one is better so they'll wait for the season to see. Just as Doc said...
I agree that hustle and heart make KT go and if Cato had the same heart he would be a monster. Mo Tay on the other hand has heart, maybe not the same as KT but its there and he works to improve. Getting inured does not make him lazy, and like it or not it makes more sense for the rockets to keep MoT than KT because he provides skills that KT and Eddie don't have. Eddie is the future and he can do everything that KT can right now. As much as I like KT and his heart, he is the PF that makes the most sense to trade.
I agree With RockRiver on this one. Damn potential, I want to see it on the court. KT has proven to me with Minutes he can play. KT is also cheaper then Mo Taylor so to me, it makes more sense to trade Mo. In my opinion Mo needs to take a lesson from Anthony Mason/Karl Malone, Mo has the added plus cause he does have a sweet jumper, but PF's are supposed to be able to bang as well. KT gets down and plays a little "D" has quick feet so he can keep up with the best of the PF's but he does need to bulk up just a little. Id rather take the guy who gives me 10 - 15 a game and plays a little "D" than the guy who just puts points on the board... I think we can all agree that Mo T is as over paid as Cato. Cato while an Under acheiver, he is still a descent center. They come at a premium these days. You can always find a good PF for the Mid-level exception... Just my .02... I know its not worht much here
AllenLeavell, it was in the thread, "I played basketball with Cat", or something like that, from Kenogu. He said he played a pick-up game at the Wellness Center (don't remember where he said it was) with Cat , and Cat mentioned it. He posted it at 4:30 am. I'm a night owl myself, but if that happened to me (I wish! I'd just like to have a beer with Cat and talk basketball), I'd post it so fast, I'd break a finger. I don't want to slam the guy, but what I found hard to believe was that nothing about this had popped up here about Cato and the Camp. Previous to his post. Come on, something like this is HUGE news... simply because Cato's never done it, really, REALLY needs to, and this is the sort of thing you find out here after they've made a phone call and set it up for Kelvin. IMHO. I also found it surprising that folks that read it, people I admire (some of them.(j/k!)) just accepted it without question. We get heated arguments about the shoes these guys wear, for crying out loud, and I think this is a much bigger deal (I guess!).
Let us live our fantasies It's just wishful thinking . . I don't accept it without question . . but i hope it is true Rocket River
