Holland put the smack down on the WORLD champions 3-0 and did it playing free flowing yet disciplined soccer. I am biased but facts don't lie. Portual and Spain have been impressive. They were the two teams I picked as favorites to win it (First Spain, followed by Portugal) but am rooting for Holland.
Croatia-Germany half time 1-0. Germany is not looking good, their defense is not ideal at best. we shall see if they can come back.
Dang I just turned on the tv and was about to sit down when Croatia scored out of nowhere. Would be awesome if they can score a couple more in the second half.
I just feel bad about Ballack. He's the only guy from the German team that I like.. altho I hate Chelsea. It would suck if Germany goes to the Euro Cup final and loses. That would mean Ballack have gone to the finals of 3 of the biggest stage in soccer (WC, EC, Champions League finals) and lost.

i havent read the entire thread. i'm watching ESPN's coverage, and each time I look up to see who is talking, and it's Pedro Gomez, I swear my first thought is that Barry Bonds is going to be locked up. It takes me like four or five seconds to realize its Euro08 he's talking about.

I don't mind Italy or Portugal. As I've said before, there are two European teams that I can't stand: England being one and Germany the other. The British are like the Utah Jazz of the NBA. The Germans are probably more akin to the Mavericks but with a much more illustrious past (would that make them the Lakers?) It's a special relationship I developed with those two teams in particular over the decades, an accumulation of things, a certain 'branding' they have earned over the decades. Unless you've been a looooooong time soccer fan, you just wouldn't understand.
