Anyone paying attention to whats going on in England at the deadline? Man City were just bought by Dubai oil barons, and already have a bid of over £30 million accepted for Berbatov. Rumors are that they are going to buy 3 £30+ million players today.

If United don't end up with Berbatov or another quality 9 before the end of the day, I'm tempted to say Chelsea are the favorites for the title.

United get their man! That was one crazy 12 hour period. It's more than we wanted to pay, but he is the player to complete our squad. Good to see Campbell spend a year on loan at Spurs, that should do well for his development.

Berbatov is very talented but also equally ill-tempered. As a Spur fan (I mean Hotspur), I am happy he got what he wanted and the club took off the time bomb in the crew.

Robinho to Man City is quite a surprise though.

I think the key is like you said, he got what he wanted. He's said that Man United are his dream club, and he'll be competing for titles, something he was never able to do with Spurs. That alone should keep him happy. Remember Martin Jol commented about a month ago that Berbatov always talked about how he wanted to move to United.

Not to mention Fergie has a history of dealing with ill-tempered players: Cantona, Keane, Ronaldo this summer. If he acts up, he'll get the hair dryer treatment from Fergie and quickly be put in his place.

Arsenal is the english premier right?

How are they looking? I don't keep up with much Soccer, but I do like the Arsenal. After losing Henry it seems like they have been struggling. Will they be much more improved than last year?

They're hardly struggling. They still have great players, and Robin Van Persie has filled the gap at forward left by Henry very well. Their midfield looks particularly promising this year with the development of Samir Nasri. Nasri and Fabregas will make a formidable midfield for years to come. Arsenal is always an interesting team to watch because they're not afraid to give good young players a shot.

If Fabregas is even there after this year, he wants to head over to Real Madrid and wouldn't be surprised to see him go. That's the thing with Arsenal that bugs me they develop a guy, then make no effort to get him to stay(lucky to still have Adebayor) and then do not spend any money on proven veterans in the transfer market and get more young talent. Ahh the continuous cycle of Arsenal..

I see, sorry, I am not an avid futbol fan, but I watch it from time to time. Arsenal is the team I like to watch because that is the only team I have really seen play on t.v. the most besides Manchester United. I was planning on keeping up with them more often and try to catch more games on the tube. appreciate the info.

Yeah, they're like the Oakland A's of the Premiership, but it's hard not to get excited about their young talent. So far, Cesc did not personally say he wants to move on elsewhere. I think it's just rumors considering Arsenal's history and how just about any team would love to have him. I suppose anything can happen before the next transfer window though. Personally, I have no problem with Cesc moving on, I'm a Liverpool fan.

No need to apologize, I think you picked a good team to follow. Rooting for Manchester United and Chelsea is like rooting for the Yankees and Red Sox, so I'm just glad you're not one of "them."

Aren't you a Liverpool fan? You know they're the most successful team in English history, right? Pot, meet kettle.

Fair enough, but I didn't start following them until the late 90s. They've pretty much been the underdogs since I've been following them. Also, they are at least somewhat fiscally responsible in their purchasing of players.

Hopefully they can avoid relegation this year, it'll be tough for an underdog team like Liverpool though.

I meant an underdog out of the top 4.

The same "fiscally responsible" team that has outspent Man United?

    http://biawc.110mb.com/

So let's see, Liverpool is the most successful team in the history of England, yet over the last 15 years, despite outspending United, don't come remotely close to matching their trophy case. I'd say the Dippers are much closer to the Yankees than Man United.

If you're going to hate on other teams, at least be honest about your own.

I haven't seen those numbers before, and those numbers really make me sad. The net difference shows that Liverpool had invested very poorly on players. It looks like you're right in that Liverpool had spent just as much money.

You've got to give Man U credit for having long-term mainstays like Giggs, Scholes, Gary Neville and Wes Brown. It seems like Liverpool have had a constant revolving door outside of Gerrard and Carragher. Man U is probably the only club in the premiership that has a collection of good domestic players.

Regardless, I find Man U fans to be extremely obnoxious (much like Yankees fans), where they are generally uneducated about the game (not that I'm terribly educated about the game either), and follow them only because they're the biggest name. I'm not saying you're one of them, but just that from my experience, they annoy the **** out of me.

I don't see any one of you ranking FULHAMerica near the top. :( WHY?

I see ARSENAL, MANCHESTER CITY, and TOTTENHAM winning 1-2-3.

FULHAMerica is no more. McBride, Keller (who I don't think ever played for them) and Bocenegra all left. Dempsey and Johnson are still there but there aren't too many US fans that want to root for Johnson.

And what's up with your Arsenal pick, they don't have any Mexicans playing for them?

Johnson is actually on loan at Cardiff City.

Don't they have Vela, or was he loaned out again?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carlos_Vela :(

Anyway, it was bittersweet to see McBride play with Blanco in the same team yesterday ... ... still, I'd like to see more AMERICAN (from the CONTINENT NAMED AMERICA) footballers in Europe. It adds passion.

I know this is an "ENGLISH PREMIER" thread, but... I wonder how Blanco and McBride treat each other in practice... seeing as if they had a rivalry?
