Congrats Swoly on Mexico beating Chile 1-0 in a friendly, you guys didn't play their A team so I guess it was expected. Brilliant strike by by goal scorer, took a shot in an awkward position, Messi is brilliant at that.

Chile is one of the teams I think may surprise everyone, they might actually get into the Quaterfinals if they get to play Portugal or Ivory Coast in the second round. I would have liked to see them play their top players against you guys.

^^ Meh. Why do you peeps always say "such and such player was out" and want to excuse that as a reason for a team losing? We sucked. Chile sucked worse. We also didn't have all our players. Márquez was out, Giovanni Dos Santos is also in Europe. Who gives a darn? At the end of the day, the score is going to be etched in history 1-0, and it won't say "But Chile didn't have all their peeps." Come now, man. No excuses. Bad teams don't beat other teams convincingly. A great display of attack and defense doesn't get you a win, SCORING does. Mexico controlled MOST of the game, but you know it should have been more than 1 goal to 0.

I too believe Chile will do well in South Africa.

Well, that was the last display of football for our home crowd. Off to Europe. Next game on May 24th vs. ENGLAND. Hopefully Guardado is well.

When in the heck is the U.S.A. going to play?!?!?

It seems they're not "prepare" as much as other teams.
You mean "soccer", right? The game most play in the Americas, believe it or not, is what you call "soccer." :p

It wasn't me who made this observation, I just read it, don't shoot the messenger.

BTW, it does matter what calibre of players you are playing, especially if you want to predict how a team will do in a tourny, like the WC. I wouldn't have stated what I did if it was the result from an actual game that counted.

"Mexico coach Javier Aguirre fielded a strong team, spearheaded by new Manchester United signing Javier Hernandez and Blanco.

Chile coach Marcelo Bielsa selected a more experimental lineup, including fringe players such as goalkeeper Luis Marin and forward Jaime Valdez"

Its was a good game, I really hope Guardado is ok, the team is so different when he is playing.

Mexico needs to finish, they do nice plays, but they miss a lot, I hope they can work on that.

Bofo Bautista really sucks!!! He shouldnt be in the team!! Why Aguirre called him?

^Yeap. Agreed. Blanco sets up scores and creates great passes, but it's slow-paced and skilled while he's in there. When he came out and Vela got in the game, the game's pace got faster. I also would like to BOO Bofo, too. I just couldn't do it long-distance.
If you don't quote the source, how do I know you weren't the one who said it? STFU or quote the source, man! :p

A team is a team. Who cares if you have Superman or Kam's underaged girlfriend ( ;) ): if your team plays another team, you better win. It doesn't matter if you're in the "group of death" or playing Costa Rica. JUST WIN.

Preparation schmaration. :p We sucked. We better step it up against that proper English-speaking team Inglaterra.

Michael Ballack to miss Cup for Germany

Can't say I'm disappointed. I've never been a Ballack or Germany fan. Could be helpful to the US, too, as they would be matched up with Germany should the US finish 2nd and the Germans 1st in their respective groups.

^ Nice reading material. Sounds like a bad play. I'd like to see a replay.

What the Chilean player did to Guardado looked criminal, too.

    World Cup trophies for everyone

A Brazilian artist crafts actual-size replicas of the World Cup trophy out of clay, selling them online and at soccer matches.

 I thought this would be frowned upon by FIFA peeps... but then again, it's just a small mom-and-pop shop... and it's not the genuine thingie (that's what SHE/FIFA said)...

Think of it this way, if the Rockets starting 5 played the Lakers bench players during the regular season, would it really show which team is going to be better in the playoffs? No, a better measure would be when both teams play their best players available. Chile played a lot of scrubs, lets admit it, if you guys would have lost, it would have been worse for you guys.

If it was a game in a tourny then you are right, a win is a win, who cares what players are playing, but since it was not, looking at the squad you beat is important to measure future success.

Mexico was also missing Giovanni Dos Santos, and Rafael Marquez. Vela who would probably start in WC games, only played a 3rd of the game. So in essence, neither team really put their best players out there.

Rocketeer you guys had a few guys missing as you mentioned, but overall the team roster was similar to what will be seen in the WC. Chile played a few fringe players who arn't even going to make their 23 man roster as well as bench players, that is a big difference.

I like how Ronadinho makes an appearance for Brazil, its a telling sign of what they will be missing in the world cup. Even if he did play for them I still think they have a weaker team compared to previous WC;s.
