They just went through all the countries involved besides Germany:

    Cacau - born in Brazil
Gomez - born in Germany, father is Spanish
    Podolski - born in Poland
    Marin - born in Bosnia
    Klose - born in Poland

Klose has 11 goals in World Cups, one less than Pelé. Two Polish goals, one Brazilian, and one German. :p

OK before I start this rant... I will just point out we should be losing by more than we are. No one in Australia agrees with our coaches ultra defensive setup when our defense isn't that good to start with. It's a shame we have to endure him for a World Cup... even though the players have been just as bad in this one. However I can't blame them when hes starting Cahill up front when everyone in world football knows he needs someone in front of him to be dangerous.

Now for the rant. OK... you US fans would agree with me as we are in similar situations.. we are sport loving countries where soccer is not one of the major sports. Now here in Australia a lot of people jump on board for the World Cup(who would at any other time not care about the sport) and what does FIFA offer up... constant diving being rewarded and Cahill being red carded for well.... **** all. Hardly a selling point for a country that has hard contact sports as its major sporting codes.

This may sound harsh but I hope Mexico get screwed over by a ref like yours did to us. It may not have effected the result of this game but I still think we were a chance in the next 2 and some hideous officiating from your referee cost us our best player. If one of ours did the same I would be happy to cop the flack.

No one in MEXICO ever wishes this like you did. We might curse your ref, but we won't say that's what cost us the game.

Are you only talking about the Red Card by the ref at 56'? Ok. I must agree that it's questionable, no doubt. He was late, there was no ball to even attempt to get, and came onto the German with a straight knee to the leg. Questionable? Maybe. Deserved of something? Definitely.

But... you're going to really blame a ref for how poorly your team was doing? By the time Cahill got the red card, your team was already demonstrating how porous a defense and how silly an attack you guys had. No way you're saying that you lost this game because the ref handed one of your dirtiest players the send off he probably didn't deserve, and with the score 2-0 and you darn well know you all should have already been down 4-0 instead.

Good luck on your plane ride back down under, sir, to your team come June 23rd, when they will not be playing for anything at all.

    lol

Calm down dude, there are two games to go.

Frankly, Cahill's reputation does not help. It was a poor decision, but it's not easy for a ref to tell unlike in basketball and volleyball where the ref is RIGHT THERE all the time.

Good game by Germany (congrats SJC). Germany is the only team that has impressed me so far. Ofcourse australia was bad. But still a great game by Germany.

I'm impressed with the refs so far. ahrdly any bad call (the red card this game was a bad call, but besides that the refs are doing a great job.

Did you even read my post moron? the first paragraph of the thread said I actually thought we deserved to lose by more than we did. Enjoy your plane ride home too... can't even beat the what... 87th ranked team in the world? Oh and your r****ded countryman missed a clear handball too. Must be a great standard of play in Mexico when that is the best referee you have to offer. Makes the English idiot who gave a 3 yellow cards to one player in our last WC look good.

*edit* guess I missed the the quote of unable to read English Swoly-D

Gakatron, I can imagine you are upset with the game, but my advice is cool off first, and then post on this board. This way you are starting a fight that is not needed. Believe me if my team loses I wait before I post. Just to get some perspective and stop being emotional.

Gakatron, the only chance your team has to advance is to beat Ghana by more than one to get at least a tie for 2nd place and hope they don't beat Serbia at all, because you know Germany won't lose to Serbia. Stop wishing crap on anyone.

I always expected to lose. Germany are a far superior side... sure I would of hoped we did better but to lose a top player to a terrible red card that wouldn't of been given 99% at any level I think deserves some frustration. This same ref missed a handball that was pretty obvious I thought? Like I said we deserved to lose by more than we did... we were terrible but so was the ref. Do you disagree?

The handball wasn't obvious. The ref didn't have a good angle (watch the replay and note where the ref was in relation to the play and where the handball happened. It happens. The linesman missed it. Stop crying.
LOL @ name-callling... it means you're mad.

LOL @ mentioning the ranking... I guess you don't know that rankings don't matter when you're in the World Cup... it's a totally different atmosphere, home field advantage comes in to play... they deserved the 1-1 draw, sir. Stop getting mad...

Of course I am mad. Would you honestly not be mad if Marquez had been red carded for a similar offense?

Nope. I wouldn't be mad. I know football is football, and refs sometimes use their judgment, sir. What we can see on replays and better angles isn't what the referee sees. We're not 6 feet away to HEAR the foul, see his angle, or have to be watching 22 players on the pitch around the ball. I will say again what people have been asking you to do and you fail to do: Calm down.

When our goal was nullified, I gave the referees the benefit of the doubt. So they got it right, and people are still saying it wasn't the right call. I was upset, yes, but didn't wish death upon Uzbekistan.

    Whooop whooop...BS alert....whoop whoop.....

Of course you would be made Swoly, anyone would, but you are right, Australia was horrible, and it was not the refs fault.

I mean if Klose wasn't doing his best Peter Crouch imitation and used his feet they would have had 2 or 3 more goals.

Klose's father was of German descent, Klose moved to Germany when he was 8. He still has strong ties to Poland, though.

I know Mario. He's half Spanish, but I don't even think he speaks Spanish well, he was born and grew up in Germany and clearly considers himself German.

Cacau was naturalized by his request some time before he was even considered for the German team, and I don't think he was sure he had a chance to play for the German team at the time, he wanted it for other reasons, too, after 10 years in his adopted home country. By the way, he passed the immigration test with a flawless score. As a random fact, he got several votes in the mayoral election of the village he lives in in Germany, even though he wasn't on the ballot .

    Gomez - see above

Podolski - moved to Germany when he was 2 years old

Marin - moved to Germany when he was 2 years old

Özil - was born in Germany (Turkish parents)

It's a reflection of the reality in our country - we are an immigration country. Also goes to show that nobody holds you back when you work hard. Be it in football or elsewhere in Germany, if you work hard and do well and do not isolate yourself from society on purpose, you can be successful.

I have constantly said we were horrible, in fact 8-0 would of been deserved we are that bad. However when your team can't even beat SA and your claiming a clear offside was a bad call.. I think I have every right to keep up an argument whether I am mad or not. I am always of the opinion in any sport that you shouldn't make a call your not 100% on. If he was 100% on that and he chose a straight red then he shouldn't be a referee at the World Cup... does anyone honestly dispute that? It was card worth yes.. a yellow, yet there will probably be worse not even go with a card in this competition. Its a big penalty in a WC when there are so few games to miss any. Perhaps it may of been harsh with my Mexico statement but will be interesting to see if Swoly backs himself up here when/if Mexico get a harsh call in the next two games and doesn't complain.
