I don't think it's been that even. England has had a lot more chances the the US has had. Even if we give that goal to the US there should have been a few goals scored by England. Howard is the reason that this game is still 1-1
Agreed, the keepers are the reason it is 1-1. hardly any player for england played good. Rooney played bad, I hop he keeps that up this tournament. Crouch should start next game instead of Heskey.

Spot on.. Heskey was useless and dived way too much. Lampard, Rooney and Terry were hardly noticed as well. Lennon and Gerrard probably only players that could walk away content with their games.
My simple assessment of the US team after this game. GK - Howard was the key in keeping the game 1-1. He was superb in the game and the goal wasn't his fault in any way. Without a doubt the Man of the match for USA. Defense - The defense look very lost out there at times with England players being left unmarked over and over again. It's a miracle there were no more goals scored with them being that open. I don't know what it was but they really need to step up their game if we make it to the second round. Midfield - This was the only other bright spot in my opinion other than Howard. They did hold on to the ball and passed it around nicely but didn't get chances to really create anything which I blame mainly on the forwards not creating space and making good runs. Landon was on point with his crosses and passing. Forwards - Plain and simple in my opinion they sucked it up. Landon put some nice balls to be headed in during the 1st half but they couldn't get the timing right and nothing happened with them. They weren't spacing out right or even timing some nice runs. I don't think the Forwards are good enough at this point to really do anything. They are young and need to grow up real quick in this world cup if they want to put some goals in the back of the net. The forwards really were not a factor in this game at all.
US played sloppy and uninspired on defense, got really lucky on the laugher from Dempsey... overall USA has to be glad to escape with a tie, whereas England can thank the goalkeepers for screwing them out of 3 points. Howard was masterful.
