Is there any particular reason why they don't move away from the running clock? It just seems to me that stopping the clock during stoppages in play (goals, injuries, substitutions) and keeping a strict 45 minute limit would be more accurate.
Wow what a bad play by Green. James will start next game. These type of mistakes are career breakers. Games would be much to long, and to exhausting. Now they play about 30 minutes pure playing time.
what's that persistent buzz in the background? almost like a hive of bees- i had to turn the sound down.
Yeah they still do flop and slow down the game sometimes but they are strict on it now and give yellow cards for flopping so they don't do it as much or they make sure they really were hit. But overall the flopping comes from the offensive side when they are attacking and get hit, you won't see it from the defense so much because they have to actually be part of a play to at least fall down etc. So I guess you won't see many times where momentum is stopped by the defense. Don't know the answer to this one. It would make more sense but I guess it's just part of the game that has stuck and will always stay.
I agree, I'd rather make it so all American football has a running clock except on out of bounds, injuries, and timeouts. Games take way too long.
beckham is injured i guess? wasnt that the rap he got when he came to the US? always injured, not toughing it out?
England has missed a ton of opportunities. Great play by Dempsey to get the shot off, even though the goal entirely luck. I expect England to capitalize on their red zone possessions next half though. England wins 3-1.
The were getting opportunities left and right and our we were getting lucky they weren't scoring more. The way our defense was playing, if they fall asleep this half again England will put 2 more in the back of the net pretty easily.
Our defense has holes the size of the grand canyon. They are giving Englad opportunity after opportunity. Not long before they will get it in the back of the net and Howard won't be able to help.
My thoughts from the first half: Robert Green is the name of my ex-brother-in-law that really screwed over my sister. That makes his epic fail so much sweeter. England is paying their manager £5Mill too much. He doesn't even know his team. It wasn't just Green. Milner shouldn't have started at this level. Wright-Phillips is a much better player.
Vuvuzelas have been controversial. They have been associated with permanent noise-induced hearing loss, cited as a possible safety risk when spectators can't hear evacuation announcements, and potentially spread colds and flu germs on a greater scale than coughing or shouting. Commentators have described the sound as "annoying" and compared it with "a stampede of noisy elephants," "a deafening swarm of locusts," "a goat on the way to slaughter" and "a giant hive full of very angry bees."
