I understand what you're saying, but by your reasoning, the offside rules also punish defenders for "poor play".

The point is to get teams to be offensively aggressive by getting forward as a unit (and using the offside trap) rather than having to always sit back behind the strikers to be a good defensive team.

Maybe the rules should be changed for the GK, but I don't think for the reasons you mentioned.

Oh, well this explains much. France is going to get destroyed by Uruguay.

If you watched Mexico-SA on the french television then I have one thing to say: your commentators are r****ded.

Each time the Africans had the ball they were all pumped up and screaming, chearing, because they, and I will quote the commentators words "would rather have SA winning for France". Wtf? Where is being neutral?
Then there is a slight foul in the goalies zone and they are SCREAMING for a penalty.
Hopefully they had one man of common sense on there - Gerrard Houiller - who actually had interesting stuff to stay rather than "Gerrard, what kind of rules are there in this WC?". He was neutral and had interesting things to say.

Hopefully they will have Lizarazu & Wenger on for the France - Uruguay game because I think I won't be able to take it.

I know France has chemistry problems and a bad coach, but I would be very surprised if France were to "get destroyed" by Uruguay...normally, France is the much better team, at least looking at the sum of the parts.

Swoly or somebody.... Why didn't Andres Guardado (aka Zorro Plateado) start the game? Starting Aguilar over him was a HUGE mistake by Mexico. Also Ochoa needs to take over the goalie duties. Perez is unreliable and old.

Telefutura or Galavision will replay the best game of the day in the evening. check your guide or regular tv schedule.

When you just lost against China and were unconvincing against Tunisia you have to be afraid against a very good South American team with a striker in the best form of his life.

    Uruguay 2 - 0 France

(might be a bit biased because I hate France)

Great experience, but leaving it a tie is a little unsettling to me. No winner or loser.

Spoken like a true French woman.

And the ONLY time that anything remotely American would invade anything remotely English, is me invading

    The French are overrated.

    Hopefully they get exposed.

The funny thing with France is they seem to do better when they have been counted out.
