Great game. Predicted SA scoring first and an eventual 1-1 draw yesterday on my World Cup radio show to the mocking of my co-hosts. Who's laughing now??

    Excited for France-Uruguay shortly!

They play like a team and that's all that matters.

The famous french players are too busy paying for underage hookers and punching hand balls into nets.

As an Irish-American, I'll be eating Freedom Fries (we love our potatoes) and rooting against Handball Nation, today. I've never been such a huge fan of Uruguay.

Haters gonna hate, I guess :)

A lot of goals get rescinded because of that? Honestly, I've played the game for over 30 years and I can't recall a similar situation. It's something that rarely happens...or gets called. It's the right call, too.

By your reasoning, the keeper should not be considered a player. Therefore, by your reasoning, the keeper should never be allowed to leave the box. If they're not a player on the field that can affect offside, then they can't go forward either.

Serious question because I'm curious...have you ever played the game outside of YMCA ball as a kid? I know you've said you coach, but have you gotten your license?

Forlan? C'mon now. One of the best pure strikers this decade.

Lets talk when Spain actually wins a big game in the World Cup, too bad they have a history of being chockers. I'll prefer to route for guys who've actually won, if they have to cheat, then so be it, at least they accomplish what they set out to get done.

I'm going to piss off most of the board, but the only way USA beats England is by invading them, y'all have a history of doing that. :p

Imagine paying all that damn money to see the game, only to come out with a tie. I'd be pissed.

Naa, we're cool with England. But I do think we should seriously consider invading those pansies in Canada and France. :p

Egghead, they have some 2-3 players who at some point in their careers were considered good players, but now they are in their 30's. Forlan is 31, the guy has slowed down, he's still dangerous, but he won't be able to lead this team by himself. You need a decent midfield for your striker to be effective....

Yes goals get rescinded because of that, it may not be an every day occurance, but I have seen it before, and IMO I think it is rewarding the keeper for playing poorly.

I agree it is the correct call as the rules are written, I believe they are flawed.

By my reasoning the keeper is a player, but the offside rule does not include him.....

If he chooses to come out to contest and leaves the backdoor open, he should suffer the consequences.

Or maybe they could write it to where a ball is on a rebound the offside rules do not apply.....either way, I think that rule needs work.

    Just my .02

Philipp Lahm, captain of the German team in Michael Ballack's absence said today that this is the strongest German team he has ever been on...which surprised me because it is also the youngest team we ever had at a world cup...but...

    LOOK OUT EVERYONE!

It's the World Cup experience...and the opening match. I wouldn't be pissed at all.

No doubt, it is not about winning and losing, it is about the game and the chances to score more than the actual scoring though....that first goal was beautiful.
