The FIFA.COM website says 3 days 3 hours to go... Must be RSA time. Bittersweet story. Full article - http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/newsid=1229997/index.html#usa+some+mexican+spice Some notes I heard from Jorge El Doctor Zeta Zambrano, Univision reporter in South Africa, and more: More than 5000 spectators witnessed Argentina's open practice yesterday, but they're not doing "full practices" and the press is speculating Maradona will fail with this as coach. About 3000 Mexican fans are expected in South Africa to attend any given match, but mostly Mexican games. Drogba is not really out of the Cup South Africa is coming with 10 games in a row without a loss into the opening game to face México Coaching staff have cameras on all practice fields, and FIFA has established the first television network that can aid in scouting reports. Tim Howard regards Rooney as the best player in the world. (this one is from http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/news/newsid=1230499/index.html#howard+rooney+best+world) Here is a great article on the TOUGHEST JOB: Ref at the World Cup opening Game. I know a Mexican ref did this in '94 and kicked out Echeverry from Bolivia in their loss to Germany... the Mexican embassy in Bolivia got stoned...
I'm sorry but Messi is by far the best player int he world. 1) Messi .. 2) Ronaldo 3) Kaka (when healthy) .. 4) Rooney/Drogba
Jonathan Bornstein is also of Mexican decent, which would explain why he's always trying to make us lose.
Now it all makes sense. Next thing you know, a US player will score a goal and Bornstein will then trip one of the celebrating players from behind in frustration. That, or he'll elbow Landon Donovan in the head. Or he'll start yelling "Osama Osama Osama" from the bench. Or... Man, this could be a long list.
^^ Ah, cool. Now I know he won't pee on our field. No, he just sucks against any other country whose name doesn't end in éxico and will cost you at least ONE game if he starts. Just be glad you aren't playing Brazil, or Feilhaber could sell out?
Don't fear Jonathan... he is only of Mexican ancestry, like Herculez or José. Or maybe they'll sabotage you all, too? I can bet you he won't, cuz he has 7 goals for México. I bet you want him and need him for Saturday... 'cuz he can score on England. Good thing y'all don't play against Scotland.
I only have fear when Bornstein gets on the field. Has nothing to do with his heritage...has everything to do with the fact that he sucks.
Really? OK... I somewhat agree with you, but if you think it's a case of pick-your-poison, here we go: Playing spectator vs. Costa Rica - why doesn't he come up? Bad stop and fear of the shot vs. México - bad way of avoiding a challenge... get the ball! Man, if there's one defensive dude that seems to be playing in fear of getting hit with the ball on a shot, it's Carlos.
I remember watching that Costa Rica game and screaming "STEP THE F*** UP BOCA!" Still, he's the best option we have right now. Spector has played his way out of the starting 11 (and Cherundolo has played his way in). That means someone has to start on the left and Bornstein has showed over and over and over that he does not belong out there.
Don't know if it was posted but top 50 players in the WC. 1-25 26-50 1 Lionel Messi, Argentina 2 Cristiano Ronaldo, Portugal 3 Wayne Rooney, England 4 Kaka, Brazil 5 Xavi, Spain 6 Didier Drogba, Ivory Coast 7 Andres Iniesta, Spain 8 Fernando Torres, Spain 9 Steven Gerrard, England 10 Michael Essien, Ghana 11 David Villa, Spain 12 Franck Ribery, France 13 Samuel Eto'o, Cameroon 14 Luis Fabiano, Brazil 15 Iker Casillas, Spain 16 Cesc Fabregas, Spain 17 Gianluigi Buffon, Italy 18 Dani Alves, Brazil 19 Nemanja Vidic, Serbia 20 Wesley Sneijder, Netherlands 21 Maicon, Brazil 22 Frank Lampard, England 23 Andrea Pirlo, Italy 24 Carlos Tevez, Argentina 25 Robin van Persie, Netherlands 26 Gonzalo Higuain, Argentina 27 Diego Forlan, Uruguay 28 Thierry Henry, France 29 Sergio Aguero, Argentina 30 Michael Ballack, Germany 31 Julio Cesar, Brazil 32 Arjen Robben, Netherlands 33 Gerard Pique, Spain 34 Miroslav Klose, Germany 35 Lucio, Brazil 36 Javier Mascherano, Argentina 37 John Terry, England 38 David Silva, Spain 39 Carles Puyol, Spain 40 Nicolas Anelka, France 41 Ashley Cole, England 42 Patrice Evra, France 43 Marek Hamsik, Slovakia 44 Karim Benzema, France 45 Yoann Gourcuff, France 46 Daniele De Rossi, Italy 47 Philipp Lahm, Germany 48 Yaya Toure, Ivory Coast 49 Giorgio Chiellini, Italy 50 Landon Donovan, United States Pretty solid. Definitely think Buffon is till the best goalie in the world and I think Xavi and Gerrard are a little to high but I can live with it.
....4 more days. Can't wait. Have to DVR the game on Friday due to work...... But will be watching all day Saturday!
Swoly, South Africa had some great friendly games, are you scared? Home turf and emotions flying high, never know how that game will go under those circumstances....I'm predicting a 2-2 tie. BTW Drogba might be coming back and playing with a cast on, will be amazing, the guy is true warrior if he comes back for the first game against Portugal.
I know who I want talking the penalty kicks for my team  <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/sxdkyk8-Jm4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/sxdkyk8-Jm4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
