Robben is injured. not sure if he will play at the WC. We had a good friendly, but this injury can be very bad :(

Yeah, read about it...it was the headline in BILD. It's almost like us Germans empathize too much with the Dutch team now .

Lippis is a ****ing r****d. Thank you for winning the WC in 06' but your old ass needs to retire into a nursing home. Are team is so out of sync. Where's Cassano? Totti? Perrota? Del Piero? Rossi? Toni?

Panzzini, Pepe and Quagliarella suck. Giraldino, Iaquinta and Di Natale are ALL second options.

I hate how we're playing, I know Buffon, Pirlo, De Rossi and Canavarro didn't play today but we should STILL be able to beat Switzerland. This is a nightmare, it's like he wants to piss off the Italian faithful, I cannot believe not ONE of those players I mentioned in my first statement did not even MAKE the squad, seriously wtf? Even the commentators where like wtf is this dude smoking? Especially Cassano (who yes, has had emotional problems in the past) who is only 27 and has the ability to become "that" striker for Italy. This squad going into the WC is ludicrous.

    end rant/

Liked the offense today, especially early. The defensive lapses haven't gotten any better. Luckily, Australia is a terrible offensive team. If I were England, I'd look to have Rooney and the mids pressure the US defense every time they win the ball. Other than Cherundolo, none of the backs are really able to go forward with the ball under any kind of pressure.

2 great finishes by Buddle and another by Gomez. I like that there is real offense off the bench for probably the first time in this era of American soccer (since 1990). Right now, I think you have to go with Altidore and Buddle to start. Findley is fast, but his touch, passing, and finishing are way too suspect right now. There's no lack of speed on the field for the US, so I don't see a need to force Findley into the lineup just because he's fast.

ferrari77, I get the same feeling about Bornstein. He must have incriminating pictures of Bradley. There's no other explanation why he even made the 30 man roster. He's just barely a notch above Marvell Wynn...which is just pathetic.

Oh man, Why does Robben always get injured is he cursed or what? We had a great game, our offensive players played great. But that doesn't matter when one of your star players gets injured.

I seriously doubt he will play. So that will mean Van der Vaart will start. Who is also a very good player. But the unique talents of Robben will be mist.

Of course we will still win the championship. But it will now be a little more of a challenge.

    So annoying, right?

Hopefully he can make it back by the second round at least.

That would be great. we do not need him in the first round we will advance without a problem.

But it looks like is Hamstring. we will find out today, but my guess is he will not play in the tournament.

If it wasn't the Texas Blue Berry Festival in Nacogdoches on the 12th, I'd probably drive down to Houston to watch the game at the viewing party.

RULES FOR WOMEN DURING THE WORLD CUP  - single dudes, you can read them, too

Saw these in SPANISH first and I knew there was an English version to share with all you football peeps.

Didn't watch the USA - AUS game... I am supposing all you peeps are happy with the play of the USA team from the score, no? Did Bradley set up a good field?

^^ Sounds like an amateur writer. Is that a middle school kid writing a World Cup article on his own blog? Nonetheless, he has some good points, like you said.

Gotta love that he completely forgets about the team with the best record over the past 36 years. He also seems to have missed that Henry is going to be a sub only, etc.

I have to tell you, Mr. AroundTheWorld, sir... being second place to Italy in 82 and Argentina in 1986 was unfortunate for that team but winning it in 90 must have been pretty sweet to redeem themselves. I think that taking out Mexico in 98, USA in 2002, and winning third place in 2006 was great for Germany.

Germany is always up there fighting the last four if not the last 8 spots, sir, and are always revered as being one of the best no matter what tournament it is. My hats off to Germany, sir, they are well respected and always feared without a doubt.

I hope you guys do well this year, but I also think we might see you again July 2. ;)

Thanks Swoly. I think if everything goes normal, Germany will play Argentina in Cape Town on August 3 (that is, if both teams win their respective groups, which I think is likely). Then, if everything goes normal, Argentina will advance. But I will be there, cheering for Germany :).
