Painful, painful, painful... but damn Spain is very very good. Almost seems like Germany played to Spain's strengths by letting them dominate the tempo like that. Not to be cliche, but Germany seemed to play "not to lose" instead of playing to win. They should have played a bit more aggressive - they're ability to counter was impacted negatively without Mueller, but it was also less effective generally due to the game plan.
Does anybody know where I can get a Spain soccer tshirt in Houston so I dont have to go driving around for one tomorrow?
soccer4all should have them. There's one in rice village and one in Missouri City somewhere you gotta look it up. If you want like a customised shirt (ones with a name on the back), worldsoccershop.com or soccer.com is your best bet. Cheers! Go Netherlands, can't stand Spain's constant abusing to the refs and hate Sergio Busquets! Gotta give Barca some credit for fielding 7 players in the Spanish national line-up, something English teams should learn. The Premership has more international than home grown players which is why England never does well in the world cup. Also did you guys know that this is the first time Spain went to World Cup finals?
I see your point. I guess the reason why I'm not calling it cinderella is because Spain just came off a really good showing in the Euros. If Germany, Spain, Argentina, and Brazil takes the cup this year, I wouldn't be the slightest surprised. If Korea or USA or Mexico wins... that would've been a better shock. BTW, anyone know what the players get from winning the cup? Do they get a ring? Or maybe a championship wrestling belt like the one Wallace had?
Congrats Spain. The win was well-deserved. We had a few players who were not quite there mentally (lazy bum Podolski, Özil, Trochowski, Boateng). Can't win if that is the case. We lost the ball too quickly when we tried to attack and Bastian was swarmed every time he touched the ball and nobody else was stepping up. I will cheer for Holland, but this Spanish team is hard to beat. In my mind, Iniesta is their best player, then Xavi, but they really have no weaknesses. I kind of hate them now.
I expect a lot of diving in the finals from both teams.. and it's going to be started by the Dutch. There's probably going to be a huge diving frenzy in the second half. I'm hoping for a really high scoring game. Maybe a 3-3 and ending in penalty shootout. That would be awes!
Congrats Spain and all Spanish posters. Unfortunately for you SJC, but Germany did play the best looking soccer, and that also counts for something (the only thing the Dutch have been winning the last 20 years). And Germany already won enough WC. And the future looks bright for Germany. I wanted Germany to make it to the finals. Since beating Germany would be so sweet, on the other hand losing to Germany would have been the worst thing that could happen this tournament. Spain was the better team. And I'm looking forward to them losing the finals. I cannot watch he final, my plane arrives at Madagascar during the first half. This is a case of serious bad planning starting my honeymoon at the day of the finals. We tried to see if we could fly on Saturday or Monday, but that was not possible. Oh well, So I will hear of the Dutch Championship on the airport in Madagascar. I think The Netherlands can beat Spain. Spain isn't scoring easily this tournament. And with players like Sneijder, Robben and Van persie as forwards we have a good chance. My prediction: The Netherlands - Spain 2-1
I see your point with Sneijder and Robben. Van Persie, not so much. At all, actually. I'd put my eggs in Kuyt's basket before Van Persie, despite them both not having much impact in this WC at all. Enjoy your honeymoon, but let me just say this in advance. Sorry about your team man, they fought well and hard, but Spain was just too good.
