I know, I know... you can post the "OLD NEWS IS SO EXCITING!" pic for this... but... it almost brought a tear to my eye after hearing this... and with Gio and Jonathan Dos Santos' father being a crybaby... :p

Uh, yeah, other than turning his head to look at his target, intentionally putting his foot out and extending his leg into him (while he headed the ball a half second before), there was no "kicking into" :

You're having a bad week on the internets.

IRENE, South Africa -- Goalkeeper Tim Howard and defender Steve Cherundolo are confident injured forward Jozy Altidore will be healthy for the Americans' World Cup opener against England on June 12.

Better not play him against Australia, even if he seems healthy this Saturday.

Jesus Christ, Drogba deserved a yellow card?

Cleats should never be at that level/height, much less WHEN YOU'RE GOING FOR A HEADER.

Absurd that there was no call on Evans, and more ridiculous that Drogba got called for a foul there. Although I'm not surprised at who's taking the other side of the argument for no reason.

I think both of them should have been carded, Evans should have gotten a red card, IMO for a dangerous play, but Drogba certainly exagerated the contact and play, IMO...and deserved a yellow.

OMG . You're the only one defending the referee's bad judgment, still? Why? Haven't you seen the many replays? There's no "exaggeration" as you call it if it was in fact a foul as you agree. No one gets a yellow card for exaggeration if they were truly fouled, sir. If you agree that Evans fouled, how can you say that DD *ironically* was acting like his chest hurt?!?!?

You're TERRIBLE, mister DaDarkone... terrible. :( You don't officiate soccer games for your kids' leagues, do you? Gosh, I really hope you don't.

Yes he was clearly fouled, but I hate the exaggeration that does on out there, I think it is ruining the game.

Look at some of the old soccer clips of players like George Best etc, they didn't flop, they played on....

Drogba was fouled, there is no doubt about it, but he laid there like he was shot.....which to me was a complete exageration, and his reputation is exactly that, he flops a lot....

It is why I can't stand watching Portugal or Italy, or some of the other players like Blanco from your favorite national team.

I wish that referees would yellow card more often......

You get kicked in the chest, with intent to harm, by a set of these...

I think I'm gonna roll around on the ground too for a bit to try to figure out wtf just happened and why my chest has 4 new reverse nipples in it.

Fair enough, you think he was really really hurt, I think he was exaggerating.

Has nothing to do with the WC. Drogba isn't shy w/ the flopping and other gamesmanship like a ton of other players but if he can he will fight against the odds to rejoin his CIV team in the WC. Main reason being it's in Africa.
I highly doubt Drogba would let a broken arm stop him from leading his side (who I believe can come in 2nd to Brazil in the group as opposed to the overrated Portugal) into the 2nd round in the first WC in Africa.

Drogba is probably more loved by sub-saharan Africans than Eto'o and I'm sure African fans like all fans in general really will be gutted if one of the best African strikers of the decade misses out on the WC.

Droggles will be there if the doctors give him a little bit of hope that his elbow will hold up so soon after surgery.

Our D was pretty spotty but our offense with Findley and Buddle up front looked outstanding.

    Fixed your post.

I mentioned this on the initial WC roster thread about Ching.
Buddle has matured immensely as a player since he joined the Galaxy and started playing alongside Landon and Becks. He was always solid at holding the ball and running with the ball, dribbling etc but his game wasn't complete. He would always make the wrong pass, wouldnt put his head up to spot teammates when dribbling. Now he keeps it simple, plays the right passes but still gets in great positions to score and finishing was never an issue with him. In terms of being a goal scorer and a clinical finisher, Eddie Johnson and Robbie Findley aren't even in his league. I'm glad Buddle's getting the chance to show his stuff and i'm sure he'll impress on the world stage.

Also awesome to see Herculez showing how to get in great goalscoring positions and finish!
The only thing Findley has that's similar to Charlie Davies is speed. Other than that Davies is a better player, striker, etc.

I never realized how bad a color guy Harkes is.
I wonder how much more time Bob Bradley wanted to leave Dempsey in to keep collecting bad tackles from the aussies?
Why is Bradley being so stubborn and putting his boy Bornstein in every flipping match? There is no worse sign for me than seeing Bornstein putting his jersey on.

Findley completely whiffed on 2 open net shots. Other than that, offense looked good against cautious defending from both sides.

I hope Jozy is ok - Go USA!
