They will not be "short"... just not starting him... the way you say it, it sounds like they will play with 9 on the field plus the goalie.

All seems well based on the predictions of the Goddess of Wisdom. Almost scary. Hopefully the Dutch can take Uruguay out, but it seems written in Uruguay's destiny to make it to the finals as a dark horse. The Dutch need to fix up the middle of their defense.

Sorry, just pissed at DonnyMost's stupidity. He's been doing it in this entire thread. I guess we all forget he used to be fat and probably didn't play soccer growing up like the rest of us

My bad. Y'all are right about it was on it's way in, but still, it did not go in. This rule has been set for like a hundred years now. I don't ever recall the argument for the implementation of a 'goaltending' rule in soccer, and it should stay that way.

Basically, Americans need something to b**** or whine about. It's in their DNA. Luis Suarez's stop was brilliant, as soon as I saw the ball floating in front of the Uruguay goal I thought about using hands if necessary. That's just how ruthless winners think.

You clearly do not understand. The rules are fine. Just because you do not like the outcome and do not understand the rules does not mean anyone needs to clean up anything.

Again the question, how long have you been following soccer?

Report: Paris Hilton caught smoking pot at World Cup

Paris Hilton is under investigation by South African police after she was allegedly caught smoking mar1juana at a World Cup soccer game, according to online reports.

The socialite flew into South Africa to join in the World Cup festivities on Wednesday.

But she is already rumoured to have landed in trouble, with local news agencies claiming she was taken into custody on Friday after cops spotted her puffing on a joint during the quarterfinal match between the Netherlands and Brazil at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth.

A blogger for Eyewitness News in South Africa writes on the network's Twitter.com page, "EWN can officially confirm that socialite Paris Hilton has been arrested on a drug related charge and will appear in court later tonight."

Dispatch Online reports Hilton was escorted by officers from the grounds to a police station in St Croix just before 8 p.m. local time.

Mark Magadlela, the Provincial Head of Detectives in Port Elizabeth, has confirmed Hilton's presence at the police station but claims she has since been released.

However, he refused to reveal details about the incident, saying, "There is an inquiry. I don't want to comment further."

A representative for Hilton had yet to respond to requests for a comment as WENN went to press.

How can you call a result unfair when the game was played and officiated exactly as the rules dictate?

Exactly. The ref was nearly perfect today. Couldn't have done a better job, actually. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets to call the final after that job today.

I was just about to bring this up. Suarez knows the rules of the game, and he applied them perfectly. At least the ref was good enough to actually penalize him. It's not like Suarez got away with it.

Donny, even Jozy disagrees with you...

What a play suarez hand ball turned out to be. I think that was a good choice by him since it was going in any way and it was that last min.

Like someone eluded to earlier. If you compare this to another sport you will see it's basically the same thing.

That goal is the equivalent to a breakaway fast break where you foul someone.

You get the chance to shoot the ball and get the ball back. It's a cheap way to keep someone from getting two points in the hopes that maybe they miss that free throw and they have to work harder for 2 points to win, tie, or whatever in the game.

The foul is in the scope of the game and within the rules so people will take advantage of it if they have to in desperate situations.

This is what happened here. Suarez had to stop the go ahead winning goal by any means necessary knowing that if he didn't they would lose anyways. So why not go out with a red card and give them the opportunity to get a miracle save on the PK. It worked out in the end.

There are a lot of things wrong with soccer sometimes but at the end of the day what he did was in the scope of the game and rules. Translate it to any other sport and it makes more sense.

    So stop whining
