Yeah that's a given but at least might give his country a chance to advance all be it by any means necessary he completely pushed out a good goal.

It can be argued both ways that it was dirty or whatever but at this point, you do what you need to do to give your team a chance and he did that.

Penalties are usually an automatic goal. It's Gyan's fault. You have to make that.

 I wouldn't have done that, but you're right, sir. It worked.

What do you want to bet #3 Gyan shoots FIRST?

If he didn't do it, there would be no next game.

Gut wrenching if Ghana loses this.

True...it doesn't strike me as "dirty," just desparation in the heat of the moment.... But he won't be here for the PK's or the next game. May have to really rely on defense if they can somehow escape here.

Still, it's not a negative. His choices were:

    A. Let the ball go and lose for sure
    B. Use the hand, hope for a penalty kick miracle, hope for a shootout win, and miss the next game

I don't think there was any question what the better option was.

It's better to be in a semi-final without one of your best players than to be sitting at home.

OMG they send Gyan as the first guy? Are they crazy? Wow, he made it...and shot it high AGAIN.

Wow Gyan is the first kicker...interesting.

Still took a risky kick putting it in the top corner like that.

It is a negative, but it's the better option for sure.... As you say, the only other option seemed to be to allow the goal if he couldn't get his head or chest to it.

If anyone who was not a soccer fan before he watched this game, they should understand the drama and the fascination of soccer a bit better.

    Soccer is life.

    I hope Ghana wins this!

They have a better chance against Netherlands now that Suarez will be out.
