yea but a ref can overrule a linesman, seen it many times. if Rossetti saw it as offside he should have called it. the main issue for me is that both Rossetti and the linesman saw the reply on the big screen that they shouldn't have shown in the stadium according to Great Ruler Sepp. at that moment they both knew they screwed up, but over ruling would have caused an investigation and determined that they used video replay to over rule. There was video of them peeking up at the screen, right before the side line melee. possibly a major suspension would be in order if FIFA proved that. so knowing their mistakes, they had to allow to goal to protect their future. Rossetti even apologized to Aguirre at the half.
They can, and on fouls they do, but I don't think I've ever seen a ref overrule an offside call, the closest to it is allowing play to continue if the defending team has an advantage but even that doesn't happen very often. And that also assumes that Rosetti really could tell that Tevez was offside.
i have, you see it for example when the linesman doesn't see the pass take a deflection off a defensive player which negates the offside. the ref sees it so over rules. and remember play doesn't stop when the flag goes up it stops when the whistle blows.
I agree with everything you said but I think Rosetti should have been able to tell that Tevez was offside. He and the 2 Mexican defenders moved very slowly and there was several yards distance between them. You either glance quickly at Tevez when you see Messi make contact with the ball or you could look at Tevez and HEAR Messi make contact with the ball. He could also see Messi and Tevez on the same frame if he was online with them.
^ True. Also, both Mexican defenders surrounding Tévez did not raise their arms ... a big mistake on their part when they were clearly farther from the goal than him... which probably meant "Meh, he is not offside to us" to the linesman as said by the Mexicans. I thought it was at the moment of the pass, regardless of whom it touches before the offside player receives it. The pass had to happen before the defensive player had to deflect it... no?
That's a misconception about the offside rule. Where was the offensive player when the ball was played to him?
Deflection does not count. It has to be a controlled or deliberate play by the defender to negate the offside.
I wonder if Goodluck is trying to one-up FIFA by banning the team preemptively. FIFA's rules are basically putting Nigeria in a no-win situation: the Nigerian Football Federation is so corrupt and worthlessly inept that the team's problems cannot be fixed without some strong external influence. I understand FIFA's rules about political interference, but this is one case where it does a lot more harm than good. A ban from external competition is exactly what the NFF needs to finally get its act together.
Germany! Argentina's luck is gonna run out sooner or later... their defence is a little inconsistent and Messi needs to score! The Germans are high effective on the break so I can see that troubling their defence.
I have Argentina winning this. Messi has been hounded by numerous defenders when he gets the ball making it super hard to score. He has still had his chances but has not been able to put it in the back of the net.
The fact that Messi HASN'T scored is bad news for Germany. He's past due to pop off. I wouldn't be surprised if he scored twice or even pulled off a hat trick.
Blood is boiling already. http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-...ays-argentina-shows-no-respect?cc=5901&ver=us I completely forgot we beat them in an away friendly in March.
