This game has had some sloppy play so far, no one is taking care of the ball or really pushing it. Italy looking very conservative with the ball.

Nice push there by MEX for the goal.

Can't be that bad if they're considering whether he can play this Saturday. I think he'll be fine for England.

Barrera is taking someone's lunch on the attacking left of Italy. He should be shooting at the goal instead of trying to give others a chance to score. Sometimes you need to be selfish attacking the opponent's goal. Barrera needs that killer instinct. We're close to scoring again.

OMFGosh! CHICHARITO!!! You gotta make those IN, brother! :( Great opportunity missed.

I'm watching Germany vs. Bosnia now. I guess this isn't shown anywhere outside of Germany and Bosnia.

    Very nice finish.

I'm starting to think we need to start a fresh thread next week. 25 pages and we're still a week away...

    Goooooolll!!!! Bonucci!!!! :(
I believe Italy is playing stiff and without technique or skill today. Their defense on their right side is sucking. It's about time they scored.

    MORE than a week.

After Saturday's game, it will be dormant, and then it will erupt on FRIDAY morning

Aren't we talking World Cup 2010 here, though?

Anyway, Italy would have been a worthy adversary had they played up to their potential. I know they're better than México.
    I'm sorry, sir. ;)

I predict that Mexico (as always) will overestimate themselves now and they will not go far in the world cup.

Congrats on the win SwoLy. Italy was really disappointing today, you guys had possession most of the time so that definitely worked to your advantage.

Huh? Out of first round in all but 1990 (due to sanctions)? Is *As always* your opinion or "a fact" here?

I was referring to the level of expectation. All my Mexican friends always think they will be world champion :).

I don't care if my team has an 85-year-old or a 17-year-old playing for us, or if the biggest superstar in the sport plays for us, I will ALWAYS cheer for my team and hope that my team, whether basketball, cricket, water polo, or soccer, will WIN IT ALL.

Until the last whistle says they won't, I will ALWAYS believe they will win it all.

 ANY team can win it all. You have no hope?

Epic fail by the North Koreans. Someone is going to 'mysteriously disappear' soon.

    http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-...cts-north-korea-striker-keeper?cc=5901&ver=us

JOHANNESBURG -- A striker for North Korea's national team can't be used as a field player at the World Cup because he was listed as a goalkeeper on the official 23-man squad, FIFA said Thursday.

Kim Myong Won, a forward for club team Amrokgang, was listed as a goalkeeper in the final squad submitted to FIFA by North Korea coach Kim Jong Hun. The deadline for the 23-man rosters was Tuesday.

"The three players listed as goalkeepers can only play as goalkeepers during the FIFA World Cup and cannot play outfield," FIFA said. "Kim Myong Won will not be allowed to play as an outfield player if he has been put on the list as a goalkeeper."

All 32 teams competing at the World Cup were required to submit a 30-man squad to FIFA by May 11. From those squads, the teams then had to trim to 23 by June 1, with exceptions only for injuries.

North Korea, however, submitted only a 23-man squad by May 11, and sent in the same list for Tuesday's deadline.

The North Korean team arrived in Johannesburg on Wednesday and apparently canceled a training session scheduled for Thursday. No one with the team was immediately available for comment.

In North Korea, Kim is known as a powerful striker, and his ability to sprint earned him the nickname "The Chariot."

At the World Cup, North Korea will face Brazil, Portugal and Ivory Coast in Group G. Before that, the team has a friendly against Nigeria on Sunday.

The last time the North Koreans qualified for the World Cup was 1966, when they reached the quarterfinals, but then lost 5-3 to Portugal despite leading 3-0.

LOL WMJ, I was going to post that as well...hilarious . The funniest thing would be if the first two keepers actually were to get hurt and he would have to play as goalkeeper.
