Also, this is somewhat of a difficult argument to make at times, given that a lot of European squads also 'import' talent as well, France comes to mind especially in that regard. So the sport has been clearly more globalized in recent years, and to be fair the advanced economies of the world (Germany, France, England) have probably benefited the most from migration.

That Hernandez kid is a very nice talent, perhaps Mexico will have better scoring punch in the next WC

Swoly, do you think they should get rid of all forms of instant replay in every sport: NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, and any others I may be missing?

I'm guessing his reply would be no, because they're not "beautiful games" and already have a lot of starts/stops involved.

Think of how many potholes in Houston can be fixed with those players on the field...

Heinze is a world class defender. Two amazing saves.

Guys, no need to rub it in, tough day for Swoly anyway. I think we can agree that whether one is in favor of instant replay and stuff like that or not largely depends on whether you are on the receiving end of a bad call or not...

Overall, I guess it makes it more interesting, as strange as this sounds, that referees can be wrong. It feels like when people talk about football, about a third of it is b****ing about the referee. What would we talk about if not that? :)

Ghana's language is English (+ a couple hundred tribal languages.)

Yeah, I meant the tribal stuff...and I have heard him speak English, and, even more so than me, he clearly has a German accent ;). He is not well-liked in Germany...after he injured Ballack before the world cup and said a lot of stupid crap afterwards. The only reason he plays for Ghana is because he realized he was not wanted on the German team. He played for all the German youth national teams.

I really would be interested in Swoly's response to that question above though.

Have to give credit to Mexico, though, they are better than I expected them to be before the world cup.

About the upcoming quarterfinal Argentina vs. Germany - they have more experience...and they have Messi. Heinze indeed is a world-class defender, but I did see some weaknesses in their organization and defense today, and their goalie seems slightly shaky. This should definitely be a very interesting match.

They did beat us in the 1986 final, but we got them back in 1990, and we kicked them out in 2006. Mmmh...I'm afraid it's their turn again :(.
