I just think speed and finishing are so important.

Altidore is just not good with the ball at his feet, he is Captain turnover, and looks like a big slow lug.

    He is our Heskie.....

We need some forwards that can get loose and score the ball, guys who can win the 1 on 1s.....we don't have em.

I think team USA needs some speed.

Because first off the England players need a shrink.

Yeah, I think Managers should at least show some respect to the game and wear a suit and tie. At least a suite with a tie being optional.

However I think Loew is doing this as some kind of a ghey euro fashion statement, different than USA's manager. Doesn't really effect the game though, it's still nowhere as bad as the vuvusvusuelseias.

By who? The side of the English press that always hypes up England or the side that always brings down England and remains pessimistic?
I think fans who watch a lot of international play realized this England team wasnt as good as their qualifying record indicated.

It began w/ Capello's selections and went on from there. The man compromised himself w/ some of his selections and then you have a team full of weak-minded players once they don the England shirt.
The whole lot of them need a psychologist.

I like you man and I'm not as high on Jozy as a lot of people but man, you really are not a fan of him at all. I don't think he is your Heskey(he still has some more chapters to write before that is decided) and he is more skillful than Heskey. I think he is good w/ the ball at his feet(not exacly Dempsey or Donovan good but fair enough) and he holds the ball up well.

I just wanted Buddle to get more action in the tournament but thats all been discussed in the prior pages.

American soccer absolutely needs speed up front and we must have a world class striker. We need a young Randy Moss type athlete out there to play soccer instead of football. If America plays an attack, attack, ATTACKING style then we will generate more interest with our elite athletes.

To be fair we had Steve McLaren in charge. Decent in club level and out of his depth internationally.

We at least showed more fight in 06 before once again losing to Portugal.

I think England has a chance to really improve come 2014. The majority of their core will probably not be included in the next WC (i.e. Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, Rio). This is a good chance to bring in new, young players that are mentally strong. So I guess that's something to look forward to for English fans.

Hopefully they'll also hire a manager that works well in developing younger players and aren't as stubborn as Capello.

just imagine people like Kobe Bryant and Lebron James playing soccer.

it is our 4th sport. and we are still a top 16 team in the world.

I agree with this. We have to remember that Jozy is just 20 years old. He did a great job for such a young guy and if he had someone up top with him who was a threat, he would have had a lot more space. As it was, Findley scared nobody and defenses keyed in on Jozy.

Jozy is only 20 years old, keep in mind.

Lots of time to get better.

He still has 2 more prime world cups.

As has been mentioned by multiple people before(including myself), Charlie Davies would have been huge up front with Jozy. Its really unfortunate that he was unable to play.

Without a doubt. Davies would also have finished the chance Findley missed early against Ghana.

German attack is fast and lethal. Great 1-2 touches. The old and slow English defense was a bad matchup against that offense. The Ozil play where he put it in the extra gear and just blew past defense pretty much tells the story of the game.

The score should have been 2-2 but Germany would have still won. They were simply the better team. England responded very well after the ref blew the call on that 2nd goal. They dominated the ball from that point till the halftime point. But then they came out completely flat in the second half. Simply inexcusable. That is why I dont think that disallowed goal really played a big part in the overall scheme of things.

I am excited about Germany vs. Argentina (if they get past Mexico)

This would probably be the best match so far in the WC if it were to happen. I'll give Argentina a slight edge, but Germany might surprise. I think if it's a high scoring game, Germany will take the cake.

i don't quite understand why a lot of people say this....there's a reason why almost none of the best soccer players have never been as big as lebron or kobe...you don't have to be big to be the best player in the world...ala messi, maradona, pele..etc

I think it was Klinsmann who just said they need to get Soccer in the Inner cities and not just the Suburbs. Where does the US get it's top athletes in Basketball, football, Track and Field... most come from poor backgrounds in the inner cities. Same place countries like Brazil get their top players. I think he is right.
