Man thank God I'm not English. I don't know who's head I would want after this game, Capello's or the linesman. I would probably have a bad month after this game.

    Sickening!
As pessimistic as I was this is just gutting.

Now Capello shows his brilliance by bringing on the goal master Emile Heskey to rescue us.

How about the cover on the 4th German goal by a less than 100% fit Barry? Greatness. Carrick sits on the bench fit as a fiddle.

That goal that wasn't really screwed the UK, they opened up and left themselves vulnerable for counter attacks.

Germany has done that well, but dang, I feel we got robbed of a quality 2nd half.

Germany is like the Pheonix Suns of football. They play the transition game extremely well.

The Germans are just a better team. This England squad has been vastly overrated. They scored two goals in group play, one of which should have been saved, in a group they labeled as EASY.

great point, and they also exhibited a distinct lack of what the british announcers call "composure" when chances presented themselves.

that said, there's no shame in losing to Ghana, for the entire first half, and all of extra time, they were clearly the better team. the US seemed oddly flat to start, maybe emotionally drained after the Algeria game.

i would have liked to have seen more of Fielhaber- the pace and energy of the US attack changes when he's in the game- not sure why he doesn't start.

Capello has had a great track record as a manager, but he's a useless POS as the English manager. How could you possibly suck so bad with so many star players????

I just feel very bad for Steven Gerrard since I'm a Pool fan. A really bitter world cup exit and probably welcomed by a torrer-less sub-mediocre Liverpool for the next couple of years.

England weren't exactly world beaters before Capello. They didn't even qualify for Euro 2008.

Yeah this is true, they're wonderful chokers. However I feel like they could have performed much better this world cup and especially not go through such a thrashing as today. They've way underachieved. What a waste of great players (on paper).

Diff Topic: Do they not have dress codes for managers? That Loew guy has been wearing friggin collarless SHIRTS. I know he's a raging metrosexual and all with his super tight button up shirts, but this is just disrespectful.

To be fair, our manager (USA) wears warm up jerseys on the sidelines.

Experience is overated IMO at the WC, give me youth, and speed and cockiness over experience.

Altidore showed the value of experience on many occasions unless you think he just isn't that good.

I think you need a mix of youth and experience.

Really, you just need to put together the best possible team, regardless of age. That will usually end up being a mix.

WC experience is overrated, but playing experience is not. Altidore is young in regards to his futbol experience, but he handled the moment (of the WC) just fine.

Hats off to the English players for shaking hands with the linesman and ref. That takes a whole lot of man to do that. If that was me, I would've walked passed them and threaten their very existence while they hold their hands out for a shake.

Congrats to Germany. They're a good team to root for. Good luck vs Argentina in the elite 8.
