So American fanbase doesn't have patience? Soccer games are 1:30 minutes long, every other NBA, NFL, MLB(especially) is longer.

Also no, in baseball each batter does not have the same chance. Technically yes, but mentally no. When the bases are loaded, the Pitcher has to approach the hitter differently. Hell if it's a guy on second the hitter needs to be approached different. A man on base and Pujols comes up, differently.

Again, Ghana is not a patient team...and if anything today USA was TOO patient

Ease of life? Seriously? A lot of the countries OUTSIDE the USA has a ease of life you know, the rest of the world isn't a horrible place to live.

Have you ever seen Kobe Bryant play basketball...hell even Rondo. Rondo has a ton of feisty, a ton of tricks, and a ton of deception...in fact it's most of his offensive game.

Funny during Uruguay-S.Korea the game the commentator made a reference to basketball again. About the Celtics winning game on their defense and not their offense and that's how Uruguay was doing it. The two sports are more similar than you realize if you sit back and think about it.

Also it's just silly to think that if you are born American you lack something to be good at soccer.

I beg to disagree. Ghana are one of the most patient football teams in Africa and they almost always play composed ball. They could have been more patient vs Australia after Kewells red card but other than that they are a solid team.

Sad to see the USA knocked out.

Was in a HUGE pro Dempsey crowd in Nacogdoches. Was a lot of fun.

I will say that game winner (goal) by Ghana was beautiful. :(

I mean recently at this world cup, without their best midfielders they have not been patient at all. They possess the ball a lot but when getting into the final third at this competition they have not been, that's why they haven't scored a goal open play since today.

This game they were, but USA at the start of the game sat back and let them do whatever so that is to be expected.

Because Muntari is a head case for club and country and unlike other African nations(ahem-Nigeria)
the Ghanaians and their gaffer aren't afraid to play the youngsters. If it were another African nation, the senior players would revolt and cause nothing but problems.

Also, I dunno bout saying Asamoah Gyan is an elite striker but the guy has more heart and smarts than any of Nigeria's basketload of strikers. I'd take him any day on my team.

Chested the ball down with a man on his back, fought off the challenge to stay on his feet and keep possession, then struck a ball well that was bouncing away from him.

Have to give him credit on that. Bocanegra got burned and beat physically on the play.

Gotchu. I wouldn't say w/out their best midfielders, i'd just go w/ cos they have a young midfield and young team and they'll get that patience in due time.

Man, I still feel Boca could have done a bit more to contest w/ Gyan on that, but full marks to Gyan for the goal.

Don't write anything else please. The above says a lot.
or please tell me you're not a frequent soccer viewer, that may help explain your statement.

For those in the NYC area, there is the New York Football Challenge. July 22nd, July 23rd, and July 25th. Tottenham, Man City, Sporting Lisbon, and the NY Red Bull will be playing a tournament.

He initially had a half step on Gyan and should've been able to get between him and the goal. I understand that Gyan has great speed but you need your defenseman to be able to get in between the player and the goal in that situation. Bocanegra should've been able to nullify that opportunity.

What's done is done though. They gave it their best and it wasn't good enough.

I take it you're in NYC? Did you go to Nash's showdown in chinatown on Wednesday?

My sentiments exactly. I felt after his initial challenge w/ Gyan on the run, he slowed down and left it to Demerit to tackle. Didn't quite work out.

Meh, I'm proud of Ghana and the US for putting on a good show, plus both teams will be primed for great stuff in 2014.

And what is Ronny's angle with all these anti-American posts everywhere, not just in this thread?

Everybody is entitled to their opinions but I fail to understand his motives.

Is he a non-American who is just hating on America?

Is he an American who wants to see us better ourselves and thinks that all the harsh criticism he posts on ClutchFans will somehow help accomplish that?

    Something else?

Yep, very talented team. Their matchup with Uruguay is a toss-up for me.

I know for me, knowing that Uruguay advanced I expected our road to end there any way, so i'm not too upset about this.

They did achieve what was expected of them though. Just a inch more (winning the group over England and not drawing Germany) I think most expected them to finish 2nd in the group and lose to Germany any ways.
