This. Don't sleep on them, really they are up there with Argentina and Brasil as the real South American powers. I played high school soccer with guys from Uruguay and if anything they had tremendous heart. Alief 84-88

Although I'm not a fan of the US soccer team, I'm glad they finally made it out of the group stages despite being cheated out of so many goals. The USA beat the refs and the teams.

I'll wait. I was impressed by the win over Mexico and their defense so far, but they did also play France and South Africa.

Uruguay's defense will be exposed against S. Korea's offense.

Even better: they had to play for the last spot against Costa Rica for the 1/2 CONCACAF/CONMEBOL spot. Look at them now. Winners of their group. Never lost.

US scored two goals because two goalies couldnt hold the ball

I think the US could go to the semifinals, but beware of Uruguay, this year are playing amazing.

I admire the mentality of the US team, that never gives up and plays till the last minute and tries to score

Dude with the spiky hair on the right side. He wills the ball in with his mind. Just look at those facial contortions and chest grab.

This one was nearly impossible for him to hold, Dempsey shoots it from 2 feet away, he had no chance to grab it at all....

And we should have had 6 goals scored in 3 games, that is pretty darned good offense.

    Reaction vids are great.

I watched it alone. I swear that the neighbors heard me yelling. One of the most joyous feelings I've had in a long time.

Congrats to all the USA fans. You deserved to make it to the second round. And you have a relative easy road to the Semi finals (Ghana, and probably Urugay) especially when you compare it to our road (possibly Italy and Brazil or Spain) and Mexico's (Argentina and Germany).

Wow when you look at the bracket it is really not balanced.

SJC also congrats. I really like schweinsteiger as a player. he made an amazing development from a offensive winger, to a defensive midfielder. I hope his injury isn't to bad, you will really miss him.

And vice versa... This game is going to have goals written all over it. I'm liking Korea's chances of going to the next round but we've gotta play defence for 90 minutes to have any chances of qualifying.

I haven't been following the Soccer WC at all but I'm hoping there's an upset result where Italy are knocked out.
